Kilsyth Basketball

About

"Home of the Kilsyth Cobras" - Kilsyth Basketball is the largest Basketball Association in Australia with over 1100 teams competing every week.

Story

Kilsyth Basketball is the largest basketball Association in Australia with over 1100 teams competing every week. Our competitions are conducted primarily at the Kilsyth Sports Centre, Lilydale Basketball Stadium and Oxley Stadium. All administration for Kilsyth Basketball is conducted at Kilsyth Sports Centre with support from volunteers who make up the various committees.

Each competition elects a committee to assist in conducting its weekly competition. A delegate from each committee joins with elected office-bearers of the Executive to oversee the running of the Association in regard to basketball matters. The Eastern Sports Development (ESD) Board is the financial and strategic arm of Kilsyth Basketball and has the responsibility of managing the venues and finances, employing staff and planning for future development.

We conduct free 'Kids First' clinics for children in local primary schools, run school holiday camps at Kilsyth Stadium, and offer introductory programs such as Aussie Hoops and Queens of the Court. Our Director of Coaching offers a range of courses and resources to assist in the development of our Junior Domestic and Representative Coaches.

Players are selected to play in Kilsyth Cobra teams which represent Kilsyth in elite competitions such as the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL). Our Men’s and Women’s teams compete in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL), while we also field teams in the Men's and Women's National Wheelchair Basketball Leagues and the Big-V Victorian Youth Championship Competition (VYC).

We have two licensed club venues, Club Kilsyth and Club Ringwood which provide opportunities for meetings, functions, meals and social events.

Lynda runs a great wheelchair basketball competition. I love the inclusion that Kilsyth brings
Watching kids basketball, good coffee, served lots of food at the cafe. Very busy on a Saturday morning.
On Court 3, Saturday 29th June roughly at 2.30pm, there was aggressive physical violence displayed between the teams playing.nThere were Young Children watching.nnIt shouldn't have been entertained by management. The older teens that were involved should have been kicked out straight away to allow the game to continue. They should also be banned from the game for a few matches to enforce the real reason why basketball is a game where violence isn't tolerated.nnIf they are old enough to get into a brawl, they are old enough to understand the consequences by doing so. Young children don't need to see that. Its unprofessional.
Nice place but parking will be jam packed during busy weekend or if there is a tournament
Some courts and benches aren't to regulation. Heaters have been permanently turned off. It's not even winter yet and the court temperatures are 12 degrees
