I recently read somewhere that you can learn about a community when you visit the local Cemetery. For me that place is the Kenwick Pioneer Cemetery. I've visited few years ago as well but this time I noticed improvements. It's a quiet place and a warning to walk with care as they are unmarked graves. It's opened to public, there is an ample parking and you must watch the sign not to miss the entry. City of Gosnells Historical Society created a Historical Walk with some bits of information : the first school, the first church and so on and the place is simply beautiful. It makes you wonder- who were these people, how was their life, what were their dreams and hopes? Definitely a place to see, and it only takes 10 minutes.
Just off a busy ride this small cemetery is a peaceful resting place for some of the areas earliest white settlers. A wall lists all of those known to be buried there, but a quick walk around the cemetery shows there must be many unmarked graves.
There is a lot of history in this small cemetery. If you do visit then ensure you take the time to read the notes attached to the large stones along the footpath. Cemeteries aren't really tourist spots and they aren't for everyone's liking it they do tell the story of the people who lived and built up the area.
I arrived promptly at 12am in the hope of sighting the Headless Horseman however it’s been 5 minutes and he is a “no show” Disappointed
Nice quiet historical place along the Albany hwy alt 30
