INCREDIBLE! Cannot speak highly enough of the food and very welcoming owner/chef. He chatted about the food during our meal and when one of our party said they didn't like squid, he made us a free squid sambal to try and convert her. All the curries are amazing, the satay is sweet and peanuty, and the fried noodles have an incredible smoky flavour. Do yourself a favour and eat here rather than at a winery. You won't regret it
Definitely a hidden gem. Charismatic owner and great service. Amazing food. Very reasonable prices and generous portions. Don't let the look of the place deceive you, the food is worth it.
Didn't expect to have such good Malaysian in Barossa. Tastes like home. A must try even for city dwellers as this food is authentic and delicious. Had a great chat with Chef Ya too.
Hidden gem of Barossa if you are looking for nice authentic / traditional Malaysian food. The chef was experienced and very friendly. We loved each and every dish we ordered and will definitely visit again. Must recommended this place.
Best Beef Kuey Teow I ever had, and the Green Curry Chicken is very special and healthy~! Both are so yummy, I super recommend it! Shop is bit small but atmosphere is lovely and cute, service was nice. ;- I had a great night here. ;-D
WOW! We ordered for takeaway. Beef Char Kwey Teow, Chicken Percik and they did a twist with the Asian salad using cucumbers instead of p Flavours were hit the spot and the salad sooo refreshing. Should have taken a photo before but aftershot of cleaned out containers will have to do. Very friendly cook and owner as well. Vegetarian options: All meals had vegetarian option Dietary restrictions: Catered for dairy free, gluten free
A lovely meal and service experience from a casual takeaway/dine in restaurant. This is being run so well by only 2 very pleasant people with great service ethic. Very busy dine in and takeaway when we arrived. We were greeted by a young man who advised there would be a 30 min wait for dine in meals and that was fine with us. Fantastic forethought to remove any different expectations upfront. Chef/owner then came to our table to check our preference for spicyness in our food. Chef delivered entree with a caution to let cool as they were very hot. He then returned to ask if we were ready for our main. Main was delivered and delicious. He then came to check during our meal if everything was satisfactory. The younger man took our payment and apologised for the waiting time. We assured him that the wait time had not been that long and we were prepared to wait longer having seen the popularity of this place. We were very impressed by the food and service.
We had stir fried noodle and butter chicken for take away, and unfortunately when we opened the food after back to the hotel, only find the rice taste really old and mashy, and the chicken with a lot of chewy parts in it. The fried noodle was eatable at best due to the less of flavour and burned vegetables. Has also a lot of high expectations after reading the good reviews, but i don’t think it deserves over 4 star for just the food… can’t say about the service cause we only had take away.
tl;dr.: An unexpected and amazing find Who knew that in a small town in the Barossa I'd find a warung-style eatery by a guy from Kelantan who makes homesick inducing Malay style curries and sambals? Boss Ya even checked with me if I was ok with chicken breast, changed it when I said I'd prefer thigh, and gave me a sample to ensure that the noodles were fried to my taste. I loved, loved, loved this taste of home, and if I could, I'd happily drown in a vat of chef Ya's sambal. In addition, the food was very affordable, and Chef Ya was a delight to speak with as well.
Not all items on menu available on a Wed afternoon. Ended up with the Thai chicken curry and beef Hokkien noodles. The curry was tasteless and watery with dry chicken and under cooked rice but the noodles were quite flavoursome so we did not go hungry. Staff on shift may have been new, as they were not very friendly and mistakes were made to other orders while we waited the 40 minutes for ours. Very disappointed as previous reviews were good. May have been a bad night....
