Authentic Punjabi food . Ordered dhal makhni, butter chicken and aloo gobi. Reminded me of the good old Sachin ka Dhabba/ Dhabba Express days from back home in Chennai. A Must try it. I will definitely order again.
Very authentic Indian food, flavour and ingredient are rich and the portion is very large, the price of food is well acceptable in St Kilda area. Overall, definitely worth to try and will come back.

Hidden little gem! I visit regularly and am never disappointed. Authentic Indian food; both the chicken and lamb dishes are very tender. Generous serving size, worth every dollar. Polite and accommodating staff, and food arrives in a timely manner every time. 10/10 in all aspects! *EDIT* Since posting this review the restaurant has downgraded the serving bowls. They no longer use the white bowls as pictured, instead they now use very small metal bowls meaning the serving size is significantly smaller yet they have not reduced the price of the dishes which is a little disappointing and why I have reduced my original 5 star rating to 3 starts.
Popped into to Kake Da Dhaba for no other reason than I was at the Newmarket Hotel over the road for a party. Wanted a quick and simple bite to eat. I ordered the Malai Chicken Tikka as I’d never had it before. It was really tender and juicy chicken with mild and subtle flavours that I really enjoyed. The venue isn’t exactly fine dining but for a quick, cheap and delicious bite it was perfect.
To compare the food here to other Indian restaurants in Australia is like comparing noughts and crosses to chess. Brilliant food and prices you can't believe.
Dinner with family. Don't be decieved with the size of the restaurant. It is small with a 16 seat capacity but the food served speaks so loud about the quality and quantity of food. Friendly staff and fast service.
Love this place. Very cosy and terrific food. Menu has a lot to offer with generous portions. Good lunch deals too. A true St. Kilda gem.
We ordered for the first time today from this restaurant- Dal Makhni, Palak Paneer and Chicken Tikka Rara. Little disappointed with the Dal and paneer as both had some sorta overpowering sweetness. Could not taste anything but sweetness. Chicken was absolutely amazing and so were the breads Aloo Kulcha, Naan and Roti. The serving size is also very generous.. May give it another try with special instructions to make it dhaba style as per the name!!
The best Indian in Melbourne. The exact same food from India. Highly recommend.
