What a Cool place, Lots of interesting things I loved it .Take your Time but you get all day ticket So you can go back through the day .nBrought back memories of my younger days ..The staff are lovely happy to have a chat .nThe earthquake room is So informative ,knowing what really happened that day.nThis town of yesteryear is Amazing as is it's HistorynA must see Enjoy
We arrived at 10am on a weekday as soon as the museum opened and we had the place to ourselves for about 30 minutes. It's well worth a visit, small but interesting. Information is provided about a few different topics concerning the local area immigration, whaling, dairy industry, sea creatures etc.. We spent about an hour there in total, but the entry fee includes an all day ticket so you can come and go if you wish to.nnIt is located on the ground floor of the building below the library. There is a pay and display carpark $1 per hour directly across the road.
Interesting museum, especially the parts on the earthquake. Lack of cultural diversity is not OK. The woman at reception downplayed the local women's exhibition and bordered on being disparaging... Just a locsl eoman and her little collection... That part was FABULOUS. I am all for amplifying the voices of women. The reception woman was also quite condescending.
