Great location, family vibe in the main bar area and has a lovely outdoor section with access to a private function room. We booked the wine room for dinner on a Saturday night. Dark decor made it impossible to read the menu, needed our phones for light. Extensive drinks menu, pub dining menu with a few of the favourites. We had the roast special and lobster risotto. Good flavours, nothing over the top. Staff were friendly and attentive, even when it got busy. Became very noisy as tables filled up. Recommend sound baffle and some lighting to read a menu.
The Junction Hotel offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with an exceptionally friendly and attentive staff that enhances the overall experience. With a great selection of drinks and a satisfying menu, it is a delightful place to unwind and enjoy a casual evening. From the moment I stepped into the Junction Hotel, I was struck by the comfortable and inviting ambiance. The decor is tasteful, combining contemporary elements with rustic charm. The lighting is just right, creating a cozy and relaxed atmosphere that is perfect for both intimate gatherings and social outings. One of the standout aspects of the Junction Hotel is the genuinely friendly staff. The team members go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. Their genuine enthusiasm and eagerness to assist make the dining experience truly enjoyable. They are knowledgeable about the menu and are happy to offer recommendations based on personal preferences. When it comes to drinks, the Junction Hotel does not disappoint. The bar offers an impressive selection of both classic and innovative cocktails, along with a variety of beers and wines. The bartenders are skilled and passionate about their craft, ensuring that each drink is expertly crafted and presented. Moving on to the food, while the overall quality is commendable, the chicken Parma falls slightly short of the high standard set by the other dishes. The flavors are pleasant, but the dish lacks that extra touch of excellence that would make it truly exceptional. That said, the menu offers a range of other delicious options. Whether you're seeking a vibrant night out with friends or a relaxed evening with a loved one, the Junction Hotel is a solid choice.
Great juicy steak with chips and salad for $23. The best steak special I’ve had in the west so far. Glass of beer was also $6 which is pretty good. The waitress was friendly and also helped wedge a napkin under our table as she noticed it was rocking a little bit. Great service!
Dropping my rating significantly. Had our reception here 12 months ago, so decided to return for our first anniversary dinner. Was promised that a table was booked for us it was not. Were seated in possibly the noisest part of the pub, facing the most romantic view ever Newport train station. Now to the food: the Saganaki was okay, but to be fair, it's fried cheese: pretty hard to stuff that up. Onto the main: my 'potato salad' consisted of potatoes with sour cream. That's not a bloody salad. The medium rare steak was closer to well done. My wife ordered the chicken, but with a side of potatoes as there was no potatoes mentioned in the menu description. What she instead got was some barely cooked chicken, roast potatoes and a side of chips??? The description didn't even mention chips, and even the waitress ran to double check the menu. The best part of this? The waitress offered us a free cocktail as if that would alleviate the bad experience we had this evening. Long story short: seriously reconsider special occasions here: you're bound to wind up disappointed
We came to the Junction Hotel last night for a steak dinner, the steaks were cooked to perfection and for the price and cut of meat offered was excellent value. We will definitely return and highly recommend. The hostess also was extremely friendly and welcoming which is always a bonus.
Gentrified pub with buzzy atmosphere and decent drinks but food average at best and portions relatively small by Melbourne pub standards.
A nice local option for dinner - affordable and great atmosphere. Service is friendly. Food is hit and miss never bad, but sometimes only ok so you kind of have to stick to your favourites. We still go often because it's in walking distance from my parents, mostly ordering schnitzel and chips to guarantee satisfaction. Steak is very well priced on Wednesdays but varies greatly in quality.
Been a few times now. The menu is well balanced for choice. Steak night needs a better cut of meat. Don't sit outside in the courtyard or deck you want a peaceful meal, it seems to be where parents want to eat and let their kids run wild. That's an observation and not a negative for the venue.
Oysters were a hit, calamari was ok, not bad, the white bait…average,. Steaks were good, cooked well, good size for the steak night special, and chips were solid there and tasty. The salad was wrong unfortunately, half of them were wilted, the onions must have been cured, very salty, maybe kept under a warmer waiting for other orders which can happen. Service was friendly and good, pleasant, small error in drinks by over ordering but we let it go and drank it anyway.the chocolate dessert/pudding is excellent. A bit of a rabbit warren and stuffy though in the wine room. Possibly breaching fire safety locking the corner door.Surely not that many runners in a gentrified area?
Wonderful and always inviting pub! Every time I've come for dinner or a drink, I'm always met with a welcoming 'Hello' by the bar staff. Service is flawless; quick but relaxed and the food & beverage selection is always delicious and interesting. The Sunday Roast *chefs kiss.
