Excellent dance academy to learn and improve your dancing skills. Great location in Subiaco next to restaurants and train. The studios are spacious and well setup with speakers, mirrors and lighting. Great teachers for all the styles such as. Salsa, Bachata, Zouk, Tango, West Coast Swing and Kizomba.
Great dance studio in the heart of Subiaco. They offer a wide range of styles so you’re sure to find something that gets your interest. The staff are all well respected and skilled dancers with classes being held nearly every night of the week. Private lessons are also available which I highly recommend - no matter what your goals are, Juan and the crew at JRDA know what they are doing and have been doing it well for a long time now. Pricing and packaging is affordable and scalable to meet your needs and budget.
I highly recommend this school. Wonderful teachers! The classes are really well structured so you can learn dancing from basic stapes all the way to the more advanced levels. Great community, social events and more. It is fun too!
Have really enjoyed learning Cuban Salsa over the last year with Bret, Louisa and Wendy. All the teachers are so welcoming and passionate. They have made every lesson so much fun and go the extra mile to help you improve.
JRDA is a fabulous dance school in the heart of Subiaco. Excellent teachers, welcoming environment and wide range of classes and opportunities to learn to social dance multiple styles at an affordable price.
I’ve been coming for just over a year and it’s been awesome The teachers are great and put in extra effort if your struggling to help with the dance moves to get your groove on The people there also have a great time every night of the week and the place is always full of laughter and good positive energy. Also, One of my favourite parts is the classes are really well planned and structured, that even a guy with two left feet like myself, just by turning up, can become an ok dancer with a bit of consistency. If your thinking about dancing I would recommend giving this place a go, as you will have a great time and meet some cool people, and learn a skill that will last you forever Embedded in the lifestyle of partnered dancing is an amazing culture which fosters love, respect, humility and appreciation. A great thing to be a part of
I recently attended La Fiesta class/social. Visiting instructors from Spain gave an excellent class! Both the class and social dancing was well attended with a relatively even mix of leads and follows. I don't take regular lessons here however staff and students always make me feel welcome at this event. Quality sound system and great facilities for social dancing!
From Two Left Feet ... I am so grateful for Louisa from JRDA. She was an absolute pleasure to work with in the lead up to our wedding I have been terrified of dancing, to the point I was deadset against having a first dance at all. We decided to do at least 1 private lesson with Louisa. She was so kind, made everything seem so simple. Breaking things down and building our confidence to dance together. she took us through a beautiful routine for our first dance and also taught us some social dancing which proved to be very helpful and I’m sure will serve us in the years to come. I never thought I would say it but I’m itching to get back to JRDA and do some group lessons to continue learning from these amazing people. Thank you so much Louisa for helping me to believe I can dance. You are a treasure and such a beautiful soul. We really appreciate you x
I began my dance journey at JRDA in 2022. I had been attending for around 9 months when the following incident occurred. One morning I unexpectedly received an email notification from JRDA with a link to a blog that had been written by the school principle and owner. The blog was titled ‘What to expect from your dance instructor in a social setting’ and contained specific reference to myself and a recent social event that I had attended. The author referred to me as ‘Student X’ and then undermined my anonymity by documenting a detailed inventory of my personal information. My gender, membership status and current attendance history were all detailed, along with an SMS communication that I had sent to the owner concerning my membership. This had been edited unfavourably. The scenario that was depicted was not one that resonated with my experience or recollection. The narrative was presented as a defensive piece with the owner being portrayed in positive terms. Perceptions relating to me were presented without logic and served to support an imagined and unrelated hypothesis. The blog was widely circulated via the JRDA mailing system. I felt confused and shaken by the publication and its content. I felt that my privacy had been violated and I felt vulnerable and exposed as a result. I have experienced speculation and some negative responses within the dance community following these events. Later that day I was advised in writing that a grievance was being held against me by the owner. The tone of the communication reinforced this. The grievance was based on hearsay which led to assumptions. The assumptions were shown to be unfounded. The blog was eventually removed following the submission of written concerns. The owner has declined to take responsibility for the publication and circulation of the blog. I have been taught by many experienced and friendly tutors at JRDA. In my experience their conduct has been impeccable and I have learnt a lot from them. The owner is an experienced dancer and senior tutor and I have benefited from his tuition. However, in the adult learning environment I feel that dance schools and their principals have a duty of care to their customers with regard to professional and ethical conduct. I fully recognise that my experience as outlined fell well below any reasonable or acceptable standard on both counts. I hope that sharing my experience supports others in making informed choices in thier dance journey and that lessons can be learned going forward.
Louisa is a wonderful teacher. Very good at explaining new steps and answering any questions students have. Every lesson is really good and building up different steps each week!
