On the recommendation of a local retailer, we found our way to Johnny Baker. Looking for something quick, simple and satisfying for lunch, we decided to pop in. We were warmly welcomed by friendly, smiling staff, which set a good tone from the outset.nJohnny Baker offers all the familiar favourites, but with a gourmet twist especially noticeable in their display of pastries, cakes, pies, and quiches, which looked beautifully made and thoughtfully presented. A pleasant surprise was the selection of Gelato, which added an unexpected touch of variety.nThe open kitchen was a nice feature, giving a glimpse behind the scenes and inspiring a sense of trust in the quality and care that goes into the food. It's clear there's genuine passion here behind what they do.nI kept things simple with a plain pie and a cappuccino. The pie was tasty and well-prepared, though the crust could have been a touch crispier, possibly due to a quick reheat ?. Still, the flavour made up for it, and the cappuccino was excellent.nThough we had planned to take away, the rainy weather gave us the chance to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. It was great to see a steady flow of customers, clearly showing that Johnny Baker is well-loved by locals and others.nWell done to the team!!! We'll definitely be back when we have a bit more time to explore the menu for a treat!
The chicken and leek pie was absolutely delicious!nThe chicken and leek pies I'm used to are mainly chicken with only hints of leek, but here, the authentic leek flavour shines through and harmonises with the chicken incredibly well!nnIt was also my first time trying a Bakewell Tart and by extension, frangipane. The combination of crumbly texture and sweet flavour was excellent. I had no idea up until now that almonds could be used in such a delicious way!

Spot on their famous pies. Full marks for food....Maybe acknowledging with a Hi/how's it going/how can I help first will be better than as to What I can get you.nnCauli, Lentil shepherds are pretty good and baked to perfection. Pastry is good and supportive texture in sync with the filling inside which packs a punch.nnCoffee was pretty good too....Lived uo to the expectations....nnHad to ask for the invoice which wasn't offered with food...maybe norm these days with some establishment to not even ask. Did ask the order taker lady to which she did handed out the receipt.nnWould love to see more friendly smiling service which can really add to the entire experience....
Ok.. time to give this establishment a plug as I've been back several times on work assignment and tried several items including the beef pie, sausage roll, vanilla slice , almond croissant.and a mocha coffee. All food items were beyond my expectation and when you see an open kitchen at a bakery/restaurant it tells me they are proud and nothing to hide.nWell done to the owner front and the back staff who are up at the early hours to give their patrons a pleasant experience.
