I visited John Cain Arena in January 2026 during the Australian Open. Renee Rapp was performing a concert before the women’s final, and the arena was open early with plenty of food options and merch available.nnIt’s super easy to get to. I walked from Richmond Station and it was a chill walk. There are also tram stops nearby, and while I know there’s parking around the precinct, it definitely gets busy during events like the Aus Open. The arena normally has multiple entrances open on most sides, but because of the tournament, only a couple were operating.nnOnce the Renee concert wrapped up, the stadium opened to broadcast the women’s final. It was raining that night, so it honestly felt like the perfect place to watch the match without getting drenched. There was plenty of space inside and lots of room for people to settle in and enjoy the game. Even though we weren’t courtside, the crowd really brought the atmosphere to life and it still felt exciting.nnThere are heaps of toilets throughout the venue, accessible entrances and seating options, and a solid range of food for a smaller stadium. It’s definitely more compact than Rod Laver Arena, but I actually think it feels less overwhelming and much easier to move around.nnOverall, I really love John Cain Arena. It’s easy to access, well set up, and such a great option during big events when you still want the atmosphere without the chaos.
Watching the Australian Open at John Cain Arena was such a great experience. The arena feels close and lively, and the crowd really brings the energy. Every rally feels intense, every point gets a reaction. It is easy to get caught up in the moment. Simple, exciting, and full of good vibes. One of the best places to watch a match at the Aussie Open.
Saw Jimmy Carr, first time in Arena, just remember to bring a cushion for seating, bony bums will feel it.nGreat to be so high up.
My favorite arena in Melbourne park. Just the right size and had the retractable roof. Loved the service and variety of food.
This will give you a very nice atmosphere to watch Australian Open tennis tournament.nWhen you book seats the best view is at the opposite side of where the match referee stand is. The tickets would be little pricy on that side. However the side behind referee is not bad either. The stand doesn't block much of the view to courts. The advantage is that this side does not get harsh sunlight on you especially in Jan when you go for late evening matches.
