Great authentic Japanese food. Owned and run by a Japanese family. One of the best sushi platters served with a variety of fish vs the many Japanese resturant that serve only tuna and salmon. Great hot dishes if you don't like the raw food. Just try it.
We've been going for years and always love it. We have been keeping the Thursday night tradition going by ordering take away. And if you're going to do take away, this is the way to do it. Just beautiful honest food by folks who love what they do and are proud of it. If you haven't tried Jirochyo yet, do yourself a favour.
Love the food, ambiance and very grateful for high context culture arriving in Hampton. Genuine Japanese meals, high quality ingredients and warm atmosphere make Jirochyo our to go place. Definitely our favourite dish is chirashi sushi, highly recommended.
The staff are friendly and reasonably efficient, and the food is quite good – but it is a very westernised version of Japanese cuisine. Aware that westerners have a very sweet tooth, in a supposed attempt to cater for this they sweeten everything – even as they admitted putting additional sugar in the dashi concentrated dashi stocks already have sugar ! Sadly it was quite disappointing – if you have a sugar craving and like Japanese food – you will love it. If you are after “authentic” Japanese food, I suggest trying elsewhere.
This is one of the best Japanese restaurants we have been to. We used to go regularly about a decade ago. Finally we have made it back. The food is authentic, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is very homely and comfortable.
