I've heard great things about this place for years and never been in. I wish I'd come sooner! The staff are friendly and the food is perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The portions are worth every penny I could only finish half of my seafood tagine! The Arabic coffee was beautiful, great temperature and tasted great. I highly recommend this place and will be back with more people to share the generous portions with!
Very nice seating. As an algerian, it fits perfectly the Mediterranean style. The food is delicious. Felt like home. The service is as well nice and the prices were reasonable for such famous dishes.
After a day out in warm sunny Wingham Park, we were dying to have a nice lunch which included Rice and we navigated straight to try out Azouma. There was seating on two floors, we chose downstairs in cozy air conditioned corner and it was immediately relaxing. The food that turned up was nice and hot and by far the best Arabic food we ve tasted in the UK yet. The Lamb Tagine was exquisite and the Chargrill three course meal had this absolutely juicy delicious Baklawa. We ended up ordering another plate of Baklawa. Absolutely recommend this place for Arabic food lovers!
Not authentic and just not good food. Very nice ambience in this restaurant so I had high expectations especially with its high rating. Our main dishes came out hot but the flavours were so very bland. Was extremely let down by the mezze with a watery tzatziki and no bread for dipping. Everything overpriced, veggie ingredients looked like they came from bags of frozen. I will not be visiting again.
Ordered chicken ragine and azouma Mezze. The mezze was not authentic - it was served with spring rolls and in a spring roll dish. Both plates came with too much sauce and not enough rice. Also, the sauces were watery. I wanted to order a side of naan but they were out, so I ordered a side of fried potatoes to dip the excess sauce. The potatoes were cold on the inside - clearly undercooked from frozen. Though the ambience is nice couches with pillows and soft music and the staff were friendly, the food is not that good for the price I paid £34 minus the potatoes they gave me on the house. It’s a shame because I live in Canterbury, but I definitely won’t be back.
Not bad, very filling but not as spicy as I'd like. Authentic North African food should be spiced well.
Went for a birthday meal at dinner time with a table of 6. First of all, food took a very long time considering we were the only customers in there and they gave one of the guest the wrong meal. In good faith and knowing how long they took to prepare the meals, we didn't complain but then saw a large RAT emerge from inside the restaurant which came near our table near the front door so we know it did not come from outside! Told employee who started giggling and said he doesn't know where it went. Spoke to the owner and instead of apologizing, asked what we wanted him to do about it, did not understand why we were upset and expected us to pay the full bill. Seems like they are very used to seeing rats on the premises and seems the rats are clearly comfortable wandering around the restaurant! Where there is one, there's always more! Got told that we were apparently making excuses to get cheaper food, that if we had asked 'nicely' they would have considered a discount, despite not considering how upset we were from realizing we had eaten food on a premise where there were rats. Throughout this argument with the owner, employee was staring us down, making snarky comments and kept coming back to argue eventhough the owner himself told him to go away, which also caused a dispute between them. Absolutely APPALLING and SHOCKING behaviour from staff, I will never go here again and recommend that others stay away if you don't want to risk eating food that may have been contaminated by rodents!
It was our first time visiting Azouma, but I saw all the google reviews and wanted to try it out for myself. Fist and foremost, the staff are so welcoming and helpful, alongside that, the all you can eat buffet is only around £10! My partner and I tried everything at the buffet and honestly I could not fault the food at all! The quality of the food is amazing and on top of that, you can help yourself to a piece of cake or two or as I did, ALL of them lol! If you’re ever visiting Canterbury, I highly recommend this restaurant as it offers great quality food for an affordable price!
We visited last week for my birthday. With three children in tow, I always feel self-conscious, but not here. Excellent food and always a nice service to be had. The chef made a change to my husband's dish even though they don't usually do it. This was very much appreciated.Food: 5/5
Visiting Canterbury for the day, we wanted a satisfying meal that wouldn’t break the bank. Both in terms of value and taste, Azouma’s lunch buffet totally surpassed our expectations. The food on offer was plentiful, bursting with flavour and so fresh too. The beef tagine was a favourite, along with the lamb, and the olives too - I must’ve eaten my weight in them! I hadn’t expected dessert to be included but it was, and that too was very good. A variety of bite sized puddings were available along with Mr Whippy style ice cream. A Saturday lunch buffet was just £10.95 with a service charge of 10% added. I didn’t begrudge paying this as the service offered by the two members of staff was very friendly and attentive - and, being our first visit, we were shown the buffet and talked through each of the dishes. I only wish that the restaurant wasn’t an 85 mile drive from home because I’d love to go back!
