Lovely meal, best chicken ive ever had!
We were pretty disappointed in our meal last night, we had been here last year and enjoyed it but this time it tasted like it was frozen food out of a box. The deep fried squid was overcooked and tough, the pork buns were doughy and not much flavour, the prawn & scallop dumplings were bland and you couldn't really taste the prawn or scallop and the bbq pork dish we were served came out half empty with a garnish there to try and disguise it. Not happy and won't be returning.
Booked a table for 10 for lunch. Terrible experience. Slow service, very poor range of food, presentation is poor, waiters have no idea what they're how doing and can barely speak English. How can a Yum Cha have no food? What's the point of having a waiter keep offering us tea when we're blimmin hungry. Absolutely appallingly, never again.
Food is appalling. We ordered dim sum as entree and we were shocked to see a supposedly high end restaurant in SkyCity serving dim sum that are of the same quality as those we can get frozen from supermarkets. For mains, we ordered Kong Po chicken which was nothing more than a gluey mess of tenderised chcken with lots of sauce. There was a generous topping of cashew nuts but they were not even toasted or fried. The other main was fried tofu which was overcooked. Very disappointing.
Sadly I'm shattered that this is a restaurant located in one of New Zealand's popular tourist places Skycity they are friendly and professional but their service is poor. Had too many problems with their food from the chicken being under cooked to running out of crispy pork and running out of RICE, all these dishes we got served looked like it didn't get cooked on time because when it got to us it was not even warm ,so not worth the money we paid, I'm most definitely not going to recommend coming here nor am I ever going to dine at jade dragon unless they work on getting the problem fixed. I don't even want to rate a single star.
We ordered a variety of dim sum dishes and were happy with all of them. Especially the vegetables with oyster sauce and scallop and shrimp dumpling. Service was very quick and staff were polite and attentive.
Yum Cha style plates with decent food and good service. Standout was the good old spring rolls, deeece! Casino and some great bars surround. Recommend ordering the entire menu, prices allow one to do so.
the trouble with these public eateries which is just as bad as franchise run ones is they are only interested in cash flow for skycity share-holders, What a bunch of muppets working here, no service, No-one in charge.. just here's da menu, here's our dish/es, pay up and plz go, I ASKED IF I COULD HAVE A FRY EGG ON TOP OF MY DISH and says dishes are precooked, What?!, i guess there is no interaction between dining n kitchen areas. what a HOLE. Menu is so unoriginal too
DO NOT GO, they sell shark fin soup. They buy shark fin, the practice of killing a shark for only their fin. It is a delicacy in China, and they don't care that the practice have reduced shark population significantly. Please Boycott this and other restaurants that sell shark fin.
Jade dragon express. Food was quite good but the service was slow. 20+ mins to get more tea. Food service slow too. One staff member looked busy but just walked around carrying one dirty dish at a time. Hence not good for business lunch. Won't bother coming back again.
