This cute place is full of indoor plant!! Staff were super super friendly and fun!! Coffee was sooooo good, didn’t try proper brunch dishes there, would love to go back again!!
For a holiday brunch, my partner and I tried the Red Velvet Hotcakes, Halloumi Stacks, and Dirty Chai. The dishes were beautifully presented, like pieces of art, and the chill, cozy atmosphere made it the perfect start to our day.nnThe Halloumi Stacks stood out with their creative pairing of sweet potato purée, beetroot hummus, and halloumi. While the flavors complemented each other, I found the sweet potato purée a bit too sweet, overshadowing the halloumi and beetroot hummus.nnAs for the Hotcakes, my partner loved their rich flavor and thought the extra drizzle of Canadian maple syrup made them even better. Personally, I found them a bit too sweet for my taste, but they’re an ideal pick for anyone who loves starting the day with a sweet treat.nnWhile some flavors weren’t quite to my taste, the presentation and atmosphere make this a spot worth visiting, especially for sweet lovers.
This spot has become our go to breakfast haven in Melbourne, and for good reason. It's clear that the team at Jackson Dodds genuinely cares about their patrons, as they go above and beyond to ensure everyone has a fantastic experience.nnBut let’s talk about the food. Oh, the food! Every dish is a masterpiece. Whether it's their perfectly cooked eggs and bacon, the freshness of their avocado toast, or their heavenly pancakes, each bite is amazing. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients are evident in every meal.nnWhat makes Jackson Dodds stand out even more is the incredible service. The staff are attentive, personable, and always ready with a recommendation or a chat. They truly make each visit special.nnIf you’re looking for a spot to eat for breakfast or lunch & sometimes dinner! in Melbourne that combines exceptional food, warm service, and a wonderful atmosphere, Jackson Dodds is the place to be!
This place has great Menu with good Veg options. The cakes were abit hard not soft and spongy . Great Coffee and good vibe!
I wasn’t sure how to rate this place at first because first impressions count. From the outside it has a large colourful mural and outdoor seating with plastic chairs. Inside is pretty basic and nothing hipster about it at all.nWe ordered a pot of tea each and shared pancakes. That’s when I discovered why this place has over 700 reviews and is rated so highly.nThe pancakes looked superb. The swirl of coulee and fresh berries with dollop of creme was a mouth-watering site. Pancakes were light and fluffy s delicious.nDespite the cuppa tea being served in pots that looked like they come from an office canteen, it was nice and very hot.nStaff were lovely. Very friendly and quick to take our order.nUpdate: 2024: Back again - albeit several years between visits. I review so many places that I’m actually rapt to come back and see how things have changed - or not.nPleased to say that #jacksondoddscafe still has its mojo and more.nIt’s maintained its cosiness and warmth and on this chilly winter day, it was lovely to dig into some wholesome fresh food with my adult kids.nThe menu isn’t vast which I find refreshing. The choices suit most palettes including vegans and vegos. My fritters were tasty with a side salad that was delicate and light with a tangy dressing.nOther meals looked incredible: the burger was enormous, for the very hearty. The French toast nicely prepare and as asked, the toppings put on the side. Have to say the “Boss Benny” pulled beef was awesome with a jammy, sweet taste and an abundance of slaw on the side.n@jacksondoddscafe ambience is unique and I find the decor inviting and warm. Staff can make or break a cafe and everyone from wait staff to chefs were fast, efficient and friendly. Thank you.nI’ll be back, hopefully not as long as last time.nNotes: parking as time limits so beware. Dietaries catered for. Kid friendly. Toilets outside and although ramped, not wheelchair accessible.nn#thewanderingreviewer #prestoncafe #prestoncafes #jacksondodd #jacksondoddscafenTakeaway coffee available.nOnly downside was as we were there later one the day, they’d started vacuuming while we were still seated and was hard to hear over the Dyson buzzing.nNote: wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking in Gilbert Street or in the side streets.nd e b i
