My wife was given a letter of referral to the emergency room, with a suspected pulmonary embolism. The triage nurse read the letter from the doctor, listened to the symptoms and dismissed it as a throat infection.nnSat for 4 hours waiting to be seen by anyone. Only to be told, there's an expected 8 hour wait.nnMy wife was struggling to breath, but because she could talk, she was ok.
Due to a mentally ill patient screaming on the ramp and going completely off while not being guarded by any security whatsoever and having a nurse and a paramedic verbally abuse and speak to me and other patients there at the time like I wasn't even there then having a cannula put in incorrectly that caused me to bleed profulesly as I demanded I leave due to my own safety concerns I had to then tourniquet my arm off to stop the bleeding and go home to follow up with St Andrews hospital who are quick acting, polite and are very invested in ensuring their patients wellbeing, having multiple family members who are nurses I find this very appalling behaviour regardless of how stressed you may be on the job as a healthcare provider it is your job to help your patients not treat them like they are just a number or that you have the impression that they are just another patient wasting your time because you'd rather be at home ..... Would not recommend to anyone as it is unsanitary unsafe and a very toxic environment I have seen multiple people on the floor passed out and people that are in severe amounts of pain and distress having to sit in the waiting room for hours at a time and the excuse is not enough beds or understaffed that doesn't make a great excuse when you have patients literally dying on your emergency room floor The government needs to think about the wellbeing of the Ipswich residents and not just how much money goes into the hospital
Even zero stars won't do justice, the nurse at the triage has been absolutely rude. There is no professional ethics in these people who call themselves nurses. They expect people to be nice to them whilst behaving rudely to sick patients. Tbh, some of the nurses don't even deserve to be working as one, since they lack compassion. It's not becuz they over work ,it's becuz of the ego and bad manners. I don't know if they are taught how to behave with sick and vulnerable patients!!! It's an utter shame, many patients are afraid to approach them as from far you can read the deamaour of some nurses. Ipswich emergency nurse working today 1434hrs Feb 10th, you need to know how to be kind, if you can't,than nursing is not for you dear. Work in a pub, maybe you'll suit there with such a poor attitude!!! SHAME!!nIam sure they are not underfunded it's lack of efficiency and management skills!! I had to wait for hours due to chest pain and nothing was done as I was shoved in the corner.nI had to come home as I had excruciating pain and couldn't sit for long. When I rang them, I was told that I left against medical advice without considering why I did that!! Who can sit for more than 5 to 10hrs waiting for a doctor to review your heart condition. All the 1star review can't be lying for the poor service. Something needs to be done otherwise people will lose lives!!
If I could give zero I would.nnThe peads ward drs and nurses went above and beyond to get my little 9 week old better, shame the same couldn't be said for the emergency peads area, I was given a student nurse it seemed that or someone with very poor communication skills and treatment skills, caught her numorous times around the cnr talking about personal things, she could see my 9 week old struggled to breathe and was absolutely miserable and readings all over the place for over 15 hours and couldn't care less. The ambos had him on oxygen and then he was forced onto high flow with no support, which he ripped out countless times and they left it , so delayed his treatment.nnShe held the NG tube up high to make the flow go faster, she forced panadol via mouth despite me asking for it to be via NG tube due to aspiration risk from the high flow and what do you know , vomited it everywhere.nnAsked for panadol and labels waited hours to get simple information, nobody was checking in, left the heat lamp on the bed and made him overheat , then when I finally broke down after 13 hours, I had the rudest nurse come in and try to tell me his stat's are fine, that he's getting the same treatment down stairs as upstairs or any other hospital, she then tried to say she validates my feelings and was unbelievably rude, despite seeing how emotionally distraught I was.nnAll in all , my 9 week old suffered... drastically, there was an older gentleman a nurse on in the morning and head nurse on during the day and another who finally offered me tissues after crying for hours.... they deserve a raise, literally the worst experience of my life, no compassion, no support, and to be honest the trauma they caused was awful, he may forget it, I never will.nnWard nurses and peads drs however above board by far.nnFIX your emergency Peads section.
Went into Ipswich with severe pain in my lower abdomen. No Doctors when I went in only a senior nurse. Admin lady questioned why I was comming in just for period pain. Sent home as they couldn't figure out what It was so i went straight to Royal Brisbane the next day as i still had a fever, i was nauseous and the pain was still there. Dr says to me I don't even have to test you to tell you have an infection. Test results came back and confirm what the Dr had said.
