Story

Founded in 1957, International House (IH) is the most internationally diverse residential college at the University of Melbourne. We bring together nearly 350 of the brightest students from Australia and overseas, in a community that is devoted to multicultural understanding, academic success and personal development. Our welcoming and friendly atmosphere promotes social inclusion, and provides a safe and supportive foundation for students embarking on tertiary study.

By living at International House, students become part of a unique group of global citizens, all with different cultural backgrounds yet united by similar goals and ideals.

Lived there for one semester.  The experience was incomparable, food may not be the best but it was the most fun place I could’ve imagined!  If you are on exchange and are looking for social contacts, you’ll certainly find some as there is heaps of international students which mostly are not local and thus are usually looking for people to socialize with.

Great Institution International House or "IH" as it is affectionately called is a residential college for the University of Melbourne. As its name suggests it accommodates international students alongside Australian local students - a great way to create international friendships and understanding.  IH has a strong community culture and is an ideal way for especially country kids to start off their tertiary studies / independent lives.

Absolutely loved the place. Visited International House  IH where our son was one of the resident students. It has been a great place to start his independent life and make friends from very many other countries...He is going back to IH as a Ph D student this year....

Do NOT come here if you want fast wifi!!! Network always drops out and is not even fast enough to stream lectures. It has been a great hindrance to my studies.

Now have to pay to park in the surrounding streets, which is disappointing.... but IH has surpassed expectations on each visit. Fortunately, that parking is only $1/hr....
