I recently did a 2 trips one from Hastings to Hamilton and one back The first trip from Hastings to Hamilton was good the bus driver was very pleasant and informative he gave clear information about upcoming stops and times. I paid alittle extra for gold class which was worth it for the long trip but for the last 2 hours the driver politely asked me if I could sit in a seat up front due to over booking which had very little leg room so that part didn't feel like gold class. But for a 5 hour trip it was pretty good and I'm glad I had such a nice driver this time. 4 star ---- Now the trip from Hamilton to Hastings our female driver checked us in early saying the other male driver that we were waiting for was usually late but once he arrived they they would swap and she would drive us down, but when the bus arrived we got on and as the drivers exchanging info we could all hear both drivers yelling and the male driver swearing. Once that stoped and our driver got on the bus she was in a foul mood and basically yelled at afew passengers that were quietly eating that they better not leave their rubbish behind as she works a 14 hour shift. Then as we were leaving Hamilton she gave us unclear information over the intercom at first saying NO food or drinks on the bus but then saying no drinks of certain types like cans but it was unclear if we were only allowed to eat and drink certain things or not at all. The trip itself was alright and once the driver calmed down she was pleasant. 2 star
Did 2 trips recently Taupo-Auckland return. One way, the bus was late as we were waiting for the bus driver to turn up in Hamiltonleft 40 min later than scheduled. On the way back was even worse, with some young people swearing loudly the whole trip which made few passengers feel unsafe. Made a complaint via website, and got a rubbish response, so 1star to customer service as well. Do not recommend.
23/08/2022 Palmerston North to Tauranga. Driver was friendly enough but terrible driving. He didn't see a car coming through a roundabout in Turangi and had to slam on the brakes, we then pulled into toilets and a police car pulled up in front and asked for his licence. He had seen what happened but let him off with a warning. We then went through Taupo and he went straight through another roundabout causing another car to have to slam on their brakes as they were already coming through and had right of way! Seriously Intercity, you need to ensure you have safe drivers, if you are short of drivers then you should cut the runs down. No excuses when safety should come 1st. I was travelling with my grandson in the front seat and saw it all, very scary. The bus was good with WiFi and it was comfortable, just the driver...
The trip from Auckland to Hastings was great, l have done this trip a number of times and it could not have been done better, however l believe heating the bus should be from the floor first, once again l got off with very very cold feet.
Bus trip up to Rotorua fantastic, very friendly driver. The bus trip back NOT SO NICE. Driver rude and no masks being warn, the charging ports where NOT working. Admittedly this part of my journey was the 10:35pm bus, but was made feel unsafe, felt like the driver was speeding at times
Good driving, safe driver! But I have one complaint and that is they seriously need to make the aircon stronger and much cooler for the upstairs passengers during the hot humid summer conditions NZ is experiencing at the moment! I felt most uncomfortable on my return trip to Auckland!
This bus service is an absolute disaster for its name. I was booked for a bus going from Taupo to Wellington. First of all they have changed the usual bus stop to a temp bus stop which is another petty bus stop with no benches to sit whatsoever. Coming to the point, on my bus confirmation, the bus stop which was mentioned, the bus never came to the stop. I had waited there for about an hour and the bus service tracker shows that the bus is on schedule and it had arrived to the bus stop but it never really arrived and guess what, all this happened at midnight as my bus time was for 12:10am. No call centre to reach to at this hour. It was very important for me to be in Wellington because of an emergency and this bus service...they charge us the fees and never come to the bus stop. I was waiting there in the cold for an hour for this bus which never came. Additionally I had booked an Uber to go to the bus stop and return back to my home - so another waste of money because of this god awful Intercity bus service. Totally unprofessional and a customer exploiting bus service.
Very personable and helpful driver I have a disability and appreciated his assistance. Would highly recommend the gold seats. Great leg room very comfy and wifi. Although the views outside the coach are much better that anything on a screen.
Not a very good day for the driver. Air conditioning wasnt working so we changed buses in bulls. All was well but we were running late. Get to turangi and we had 26 passengers to pickup. Xtra time wasted. Oh wait and the road works didnt help. Frustration must have kicked in. Otherwise the journey home was sweet. Im sure the passengers understood
My elderly mum caught the bus both ways to & fro Palmerston North. She said the drivers were so helpful and courteous. Even manually taking the time to upgrade her to Gold as she had forgotten to do, and assisting her with settling in board. Many thanks guys!!
