I've been here for about three months now and have consistently found it great. Maintenance has been practically perfect on everything, and I have had a lot of let's say "troubleshooting" to handle. In fact, the thing that motivated me to write this now is that management is currently helping me with a common but stressful bug problem in my unit. Not only did they schedule me for treatment *immediately* when I went and asked, but they are also not charging me for it when a LOT of other apartments definitely would. This is how maintenance should be at EVERY rented living space: helping out with problems that aren't your fault instead of penalizing you for them. It has given me a ton of peace of mind in an unfortunate situation that I've found difficult to handle. I will say that going to the office in person is the way to get things done. Jasmine has been particularly and consistently helpful. On other notes: I have always found this to be a safe complex, including the parking garage. I own a pretty new car and haven't experienced any problems concerning the safety of my vehicle or anything in it. This is a quiet living space there can be noise outside at nights, but welcome to city living, the gym is decent, and it's in a great area if you want to work in the city. I initially felt that it might be a bit pricey, but I'd say it's reasonable price for the quality of the living space. I am new to the area and feel that this was a great choice for a first-timer. Also, I was not paid to write this review!
The maintenance team here is AWFUL!! I have lived in quite a few apartment complexes and never in all of my experiences has there been worst customer service when it comes to maintenance requests. Maintenance request are consistently ignored for MONTHS with 0 communication despite numerous phone calls, additional work orders and requests to have someone come fix it. When we go into the office and ask for an update, we are told someone will be coming soon but then no one does! The apartment itself is nice but the utter disregard for residents concerns and maintenance needs is absolutely ridiculous especially for the cost of the apartment. I don’t recommend living here especially under current management. There are plenty of other apartments that are nice and don’t have terrible management
I absolutely love living at The Edge. From the first apartment viewing to signing the lease, everyone was friendly, patient, and supportive, and the process was really easy and straightforward. Richie in the office was incredibly helpful every step of the way. He patiently helped me pick the perfect apartment for me, and I've loved every minute of living here. The convenience of the garage parking, location, and lovely view can't be beat. Each apartment has updated appliances and really pretty trim. The light is lovely and you can't beat the windows in both the living and sleeping areas. The cost is a little on the higher end, but I've found it to be worth it, and the flexibility of different lease options was a huge benefit. My neighbors have been really respectful and everyone in the building is friendly. I love living here and as long as the rent doesn't increase too much, I'll plan to stay for as long as I can!
Nice apartments, but very thin walls. You hear everything beside you and above you. In addition, I have called and actually walked to the leasing office to file noise complaints on my neighbor. My neighbor actually works in the leasing off and their dog barks ALL DAY. No matter what I do, nothing is done. No one gets back to me. PS- Moved in Aug 2022, ready to move out Nov 2022. Save yourself.
I am in LOVE with my apartment here at the Edge. The apartment is modern and the layout is awesome. Even though this is a building with dogs, I barely ever hear a single dog. The amenities are great and the rent is reasonably priced for what I am getting. I would recommend this apartment building to anyone.
I toured the edge twice before I made the decision to apply, everyone was very nice and welcoming when I first started the process. Clay was informational and assured that things should go smoothly. I applied and while waiting for approval I was told that more information was needed before I could get approved. I was asked for more bank statements however with it being the middle of the month I couldn’t provide a statement until the month is over. By this time I’m very annoyed because this wasn’t mentioned before and I had no way of showing all of my deposits with the month not even being over. I did reach the needed amount of funds to get approved but With no verification that the account was mine because of how my credit union works and AGAIN it being the MIDDLE of the month, I didn’t have a monthly statement to show with all of my information on it and a way to verify that it was mine. Mind you I already gave him bank statements from the same accounts that had my information on it from previous months. After telling clay multiple times that my bank doesn’t have a way of showing everything unless it’s the end of the month he became rude discrediting my knowledge on my financial institution and talking to me as if I was lying about not having a way to show verification of my account because it wasn’t the end of the month. a I was basically rushed into cancelling my application. I wasn’t given any other options and they didn’t accommodate me at all. My living situation is very difficult right now and it’s hurtful to know that I could’ve moved but something out of my control caused me to not be able to.. especially when being asked for information on a month that isn’t even finished yet. It was very odd and I didn’t like the customer service towards the end of my applying process.
Would not recommend if you think customer service is important. I moved out of these apartments 2+ years ago, only to be met with a letter a month ago saying I was being sent to collections due to apartment management failing to return my satellite equipment. The management company changes every year has no records of me living there. Good luck getting a response unless you're looking to start a lease.
UPDATE: GARAGE PARKING WARNING! I'm changing my rating unfortunately to a lower score due to the lack of proper maintenance to the property to feel secure. There are multiple issues that make an impact on your safety and the safety of your vehicle. The complex has sent an email telling residents to lock our car doors or not have any personal items in our vehicles instead of addressing the issues that can be resolved on their end. I got my window shattered and my car was rummaged through along with other residents. Locking a car door doesn't stop a thief and telling residents to lock their vehicle or remove items seems to hold an extreme lack of accountability on the complex's part. If you want a complex that actually makes their property only key fob entry so that residents only have access to the property, and a complex that has consistent CLEANING for the hallways and elevator, maybe venture elsewhere. Bare with me, this is going to be lengthy. I moved to Richmond in 2017 and I didn't really know anyone in the area. I was strolling downtown and noticed the American Tobacco center and decided to make an appt to view the complex. When I returned back for the tour the staff was so courteous and knowledgeable about the history of the building. It checked everything on my list; Industrial, community events, nice gym, the pool table is very nice and lots of seating. I was enamored by the location and the price wasn't bad for living downtown. I ultimately decided against living there because I wanted to get used to Richmond and I wasn't ready to live downtown in a new state. It's 2022 and I'm still in Richmond! I have a bf and now 2 dogs! I still hadn't forgotten about the American Tobacco center and decided to go on another tour. Jasmine the leasing agent is AMAZING! She showed us the apts and when she realized I wanted a balcony she suggested the edge apts. I hollered the whole tour. The community is beautiful and pretty well cared for. You can view the skyline nicely from the rooftop lounge. From start to finish the process was so smooth and when we got our call that we were approved for the apt she celebrated with us. I love the inside of my apt home and couldn't be happier. I feel safe with the secure building by fob entry, well-lit and monitored stair wells. I don't hear my neighbors inside my apt. That is a huge plus for me. We needed a couple of repairs to our unit and not only was maintenence pretty quick with a response but they fixed the issues promptly. Robbie, one of the maintenance personnel is so awesome. If you have fur babies he's amazing around them. My dogs love him and his treats when he sees them. I'm glad I get to live downtown, 5 years later and I may not be at the American Tobacco Center, but I am so elated about living here at the edge!
I LOVE The Edge! But more importantly, the staff here is INCREDIBLE. In particular, Amber, Clay, and Sandy have made my stay here an absolute dream. Amber and Clay have both gone out of their way to help me day and night with multiple things and have always been supportive of me as a resident. Amber is not only an incredible person to have on the staff, but just an overall amazing individual that I'm always excited to interact with whenever I see her around the building. Clay is another incredible staff member who is down to earth, humble, and always down for a good dad joke or story. I have never stayed at an apartment complex that has felt like home, and goodness, this place finally makes me feel like I'm at home! And it certainly would not be the same without the staff. As for maintenance, they are on top of their game and get things done within 24 hours. I put in a few maintenance request when I first moved into my unit and was greeted by the maintenance crew who took care of everything quickly and happily. They too go above and beyond, being kind enough to even hang up my stringed porch lights. How cool?! I cannot recommend The Edge enough. From the community, amenities, AMAZING staff and maintenance team, you really get it all here. Don't let the older reviews scare you away. Things at The Edge have completely changed since the change of staff. I have been here through the staff rotation and I am so glad I have stayed because it is a dream living here!
Our initial tour and meeting with Jasmine Hires had us SOLD with The Edge. She took us to units in all four of the American Tobacco apartments and had extensive knowledge of all of them despite only have worked 2 weeks at the company so far. She made each unit feel like a home and helped us determine which amenities would fit us best. Jasmine also let us know that The Edge treats its employees and residents with respect and care; this was obvious in our tour. The application process was fast, easy and understandable. I was pleased to have quick responses with any questions I had regarding the application, apartment complex, among other things.
