This place was hidden in the middle of residential houses. Nice and quiet environment away from the busy streets. Scanned the QR code and a good menu selection with plenty of food and drink choices on display. The bao and the chicken karage was good. I was expecting japanese rice with the unagi don but wad given the normal rice. The unagi tasted quite nice though. The chicken curry sauce was nice and I used it on almost everything. The nama chocolate was very dense and flavoursome but I couldn't really taste black sesame from the cheesecake though. I would try the other Ilza outlets and check them out.
Recommend their orange matcha latte. The matcha is well whisked leaving it with a silky finish and upon drinking, the orange leaves a refreshing aftertaste
Really good Japanese food and delicious iced drinks! Nice quiet area within surburban streets. Quiet on weekdays making it a good spot for those who do work at cafes.nWarning: very busy on weekends and understaffed, so you should make a booking and not be in a rush.nService was a slight let down. Waiters were a bit slow to assist us, and our tables were not cleared of dirty dishes, but they we’re friendly and helpful when approached.nIf you like peanut butter, the peanut butter latte is soo good! In picture I’ve also tried the strawberry matcha latte which is nice too!nudon is nice and chewy.nPork belly was super crispy!
If you love Japanese food as much as I do I highly recommend Ilza Cafe in Box Hill South. Tucked away in a residential area, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered at this cosy cafe and the dessert is a must try!nnVisiting for lunch we ordered the salmon steak don, pork maze udon, soft shell crab tempura and matcha tiramisu to eat. For drinks we had the iced strawberry matcha latte and a matcha latte.nnBoth the salmon steak don and pork maze udon were beautiful and delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the pork with a hint of spice was full of flavour. The egg in each bowl added a lovely touch of creaminess. The soft shell crab tempura was also very good.nnI highly recommend ordering some dessert when you visit. We couldn’t resist the matcha tiramisu. It was a great take on a traditional tiramisu with a lovely hint of matcha. Perfect for sharing I also liked that it wasn’t too rich or sweet.nnIt’s also worth trying some of their speciality drinks. I loved the iced strawberry matcha latte. In addition to being really pretty, it was nice and creamy with a lovely strawberry flavour and quite refreshing. The matcha latte was also very good, you can taste the strength of the matcha without it being overly strong.
It's crowded during weekday late lunch hours around 2 pm. There are only two people in the kitchen preparing food and one person serving customers, so there's a noticeable delay.nnI ordered their signature Cheese Hamburger Curry Udon, Prawn Bao, and Iced Orange Latte. The udon had a good texture, and the cheese inside the hamburger meat was melted—it was amazing! The curry flavor was average, nothing special. The prawn bao had a lotus leaf bun that provided a soft outer texture with a crunchy fried prawn inside. It was flavorful, but the fried prawn was slightly overcooked, making it chewy. The Orange Latte had a subtle orange flavor, which was nice but different. Personally, I still prefer regular coffee.nnThe service was below average: no greeting, and there were four dirty tables when I walked in. The table I was seated at wasn't wiped down before I sat down. Cutlery was provided after the meal was served and placed directly on the table without any serviettes .
