Another outstanding cafe in Christchurch. The body prefect barrister definitely makes a mouth watering cup of coffee. Addition to the view of the garden the scones is to die for, served with butter and homemade jam. The spring season also have many ducklings wonder around the outdoor courtyard waiting for foods. So overall a wonderful experience and can't wait to be back again.
I emceed a wedding there, I was impressed with the staff and their commitment to making sure everything works really well. They communicated well, we’re flexible when needed and followed the schedule well. The food was a hit with everyone. Being a vegan I was well looked after. From entree to main course and finally an amazing desert. I even returned again the next day for lunch and got the vegan sandwich off the menu. It was yummm.
The cafe manager seemed a bit taken aback when we showed up for our lunch booking, but she eventually allowed us to sit down and order. The food was adequate, and the menu is very extensive - something for everyone! Pretty expensive though. Sandwich bread was good, but the napkins underneath were impossible to use - just immediately soaked with sandwich filling. The fries came unsalted so tasted pretty bland. Coffee was good. Vegetarian options: plenty of options
Terrible experience. Over-extracted coffee, tasteless overpriced food, that takes FOREVER to arrive. I ordered an iced latte and it hadn’t arrived 40 minutes after ordering, so I went up to the counter and it was sitting there because they “couldn’t see my number”, when everyone else on my table received their food and drinks from that number, theirs also taking over 30 mins. The orange juice didn’t taste good at all. Very few vegan options. Can’t recommend
Sorry can't give more than one star for the poached eggs that were hard boiled and dirty cutlery. Being understaffed is not a valid excuse, there were 8 waitering staff and at least 3 cooks we could see in the kitchen. The café wasn't even full. The tables and chairs outside were wet and when we tried to open the outdoor umbrella which was broken there were no signs stating so, one of the staff scolded us because he 'had to put it back down again'. We ordered tea for two people but the tea pot that arrived could only fill up one and a half cups. Very disappointed and would not recommend it to anyone. If we could we would have give it no stars at all.
Came in for lunch and went with the beef burger with chips as everything else wasn’t too appetising. Service was quite slow and the staff repeatedly mixed our orders up with other customers. The price for the meals weren’t worth the taste, but the environment is nice and refreshing with good seating, and plenty of greenery.Food: 3/5
Great food. Great setting. Having the cafe forget your order for the second time I have visited and having to ask where it is 50 minutes after ordering, not good. There was more than 10 minutes between each of the hot food items we had ordered being delivered. People who ordered similar food after us got their food before usFood: 5/5

The food here is actually pretty good. The let down is the service. Tables filled with dirty dishes, seemed to be a lot of staff around who preferred hanging around the coffee machine waiting for something to do. Our inside table had bird poo on it and by the time we'd managed to attract a staff member's attention to clean it, he simply wiped it with a napkin from a previous diner. It was pretty gross. Operationally speaking, they need some more training!
The food was lovely but the experience of outdoor eating was ruined by the aggressive gulls. We asked for a sun shade to give protection but they didn't have any as waiting on new ones. Just couldn't relax to eat as the gulls were swooping over low and just waiting for a chance to get at the food. They need to install an system so the gulls can't land on tables. Shame as the location, staff, service and food has always been good when we have visited. Kid-friendliness: Good high chair availability staff welcoming to children
