Story

As the il Duca family has grown so to has our tireless dedication to creating a warm and hospitable dining experience. Built on 30 years of tradition, service and gastronomy, our pledge is to provide a timeless brand that pays homage to that unmistakable southern Italian generosity of our ancestors.

Blessed we are to be nestled closely to the CBD and Melbourne’s remarkable sporting and cultural precinct. Herein lies the opportunity to provide a seamless pre event meal with an emphasis on a sophisticated wine list and a seasonally changing menu.

Fortunately, the story continues in East Melbourne with the proud inception of il Duca private function room which is ideal for a range of events including corporate, birthdays & special occasions

Enjoyed the most beautiful meal Chefs specially made a Carbonara, the entree size was perfect. My Husband had the lamb shanks which in his words were ‘just incredible’. The venue is beautiful, with linen tablecloths, good wine selection. The staff and service were top notch. The tables were very spaced. Nice of the owner ‘Dom’ to have a short chat with us, it just added to top off the evening.
We’d heard many wonderful reviews about this establishment, so we’re incredibly eager to try it for ourselves. It is clear that it’s a local favourite, as the wait staff knew many customers names and even gave particular recommendations based on peoples previous orders. The service was exemplary, as the staff were warm and friendly. We were situated by the window, which made our evening even more special. The food was divine and we appreciated the wine pairing. We very much look forward to continuing to dine at this well loved Melbourne institution.
High quality Italian restaurant. Dishes are high quality. They specialise in pasta dishes. Vegetarian options: Entree pumpkin very nice Also vegetarian soup was available
This is only based on take away experience: pizza was okay, good for a neighbourhood place, desert was nice though.
What a shame the food wasn’t as good as the service. I know inflation is bad at the moment, but for the price we paid, I expected a lot more. Particularly for an Italian restaurant in Melbourne. The servings were small as was the flavour and presentation. The garlic bread we got was worse than what you’d expect if you bought a frozen packet at Woolworths and heated it up in an air fryer. Maybe that’s what they did. In fact the lasagna may have been store bought too. Would not recommend and would not go back unless the quality and quantity changed a lot.
Absolutely amazing place! The staff are super friendly, accomodating and understanding! We had a group of 10 that were running an hour late because of trafffic, they still held our place and were still really nice and served us well!! The food is brilliant! Such delicious and authentic Itallian food! The gnochi is my personal favourite, super soft and tasteful! Thank you Il Duca and your lovely staff for always giving us a wonderful night at your restaurant. Definitely a place that is worth trying! Dietary restrictions: My friend had some gluten issues and they happily and readily changed a dish on the menu for her! Very thankful and impressed.

Ideal setting with a great atmosphere, excellent food and wine with very friendly service. Highly recommended whether you are in a business trip or simply hanging with some friends.
Very good food and service. First went here in late '80's, and still delivering an excellent experience.
Fabulous place to get together and enjoy a magnificent meal! The customer service was fabulous - friendly, spot on with their advice and great family stories as well if you ask. A tad more expensive than the places I usually go to but am happy to spend the money. Loved the swordfish!
