Not the best motel. It suited my needs. Rooms could have been cleaner. Breakfast wasn't very good. Had to ask for the bacon to be filled, had to ask for pepper and salt. Some tables had no cutlery on them. Staff were not overly welcoming. All hand sanitising station were empty.
This place was well located in terms of accessibility, the staff was friendly, and the room was ok. However, it was an underwhelming experience because the hotel structure is overall cheap and dated. The toilet felt like an airplane toilet in space as well as look— except this door didn’t shut properly. There was no water in the rooms and it took me a few pretty please requests to get a jug to fill from the lobby, otherwise it was $5 a tetra pack for water. The lift is clunky and noisy, and overall the hotel is quite an underwhelming experience. However, these are all minute things that you can ignore if you’re on a budget.
I have stayed with IBIS Newcastle a number of times and my experiences has always been positive. However, the experience this time was not as positive.nnFirstly, the staff are always fantastic. They are very helpful and are always available to cater to specific requests.nnThe issue with my stay was that the room was very run down. The table facing the window was badly damaged and had not been replaced. When I arrived, the soap dispenser had no soap. I had left the room at 6am the next day and returned at 4pm,, but unfortunately upon my return the room was not made up. In this instance of my stay, I had booked another room for a friend mainly because my previous experience was great.nnUnfortunately, this time, it was not so great. I am still happy to book at Ibis but would greatly appreciate if these issues are resolved.
This was a quick trip to Newcastle, staying just one night.nThe room was adequate for myself as a solo traveller. The room was clean, everything was in working order. The bed was comfortable and there were spare pillows in the room to choose from. The spare blanket was welcome, however it was looking quite threadbare, and should probably be replaced sooner rather than later.nThe hotel, in some parts looks a bit outdated, but still quite acceptable. It is in a good part of town, close to food outlets and not far from attractions.nOverall, a good stay.
I stayed at the hotel on 2nd August 2024 for a short work trip, in room 331. It was close to our business location, so I chose this hotel for its close proximity. Unfortunately, there were lots of bed bugs in the bed, and I got multiple bed bug bites on my neck. I couldn't move my neck for a few days due to the bites.nI couldn't sleep for the whole night, and they changed my room at 2.30 am. Guest safety needs to be taken more seriously, and hygiene needs to be significantly improved.
