We were driving through Kawkawa today and told the kids that we were going to stop to see a fancy toilet. They couldn't understand why...until they saw it! Not only is it clean and tidy, it's AMAZINGLY beautiful.
Fortunate enough to visit when there were few other tourists. Spectacular public toilets of the highest order. Definitely worth a visit.

When I visited around 3 AM the original loos were locked up. But a polite notice directed me to a newer facility, a few metres away, that operates 24/7. Very modern, but echoing the original theme.
Beautiful addition to the town's proud Hunderdwasser inheritance. Go and see it, it's more than worth the $3 entrance fee. Climb the magnificent stairs with coloured concrete walls and gaze at the wooden centre piece on the 1st floor, you won't regret it.
Such nice large toilets! Tiled in the Hundertwasser style. A great alternative to the very popular and busy toilets on the main street.
A piece of art... stop over when you are passing through Kawakawa.
As far as public toilets go, they're fun to visit...
Great place to visit and is interesting inside and out. It is a real art treasure so no need to visit Barcelona after all.
