I recently dined at Hugo and had an exceptional experience. The wood-fired pizzas were simply the best I've ever had—perfectly crispy crust with deliciously fresh toppings. The gnocchi was incredibly tender, and the pumpkin pasta was a standout with its rich, savory flavors. To top it all off, Hugo offers a fantastic selection of drinks that complemented the meal perfectly. The ambiance was inviting, and the service was top-notch. Highly recommend Hugo for an unforgettable dining experience!
I was drawn to this restaurant by their 100 layer lasagna posted on Instagram and thought I had to give that a crack. So we recently visited Hugo and what an epic dining experience.The staff were very friendly and helpful, service was magnificent particularly clearing tables between dishes. And the food was awesome 10/10 an absolute standout of the night. My only suggestion to management would be to look at removing a table along the back left hand side of the wall servicing the long bench seat and spread that extra space between the table gaps because the gap between tables was very small making it difficult enter and exit that bench seat without pre warning and bothering other patrons.nI did hear a number of times throughout the evening patrons around us commenting on how sensational the food was whilst they were eating.nAn absolute gem in Essendon I highly suggest giving Hugo a go.

Food was nice. Crab tortellini felt like more of an entre rather than a main, with only 4 tortellini’s & didn’t really taste crab at all - pleasant to eat though. We’d return to taste other dishes.
Our first time here and we were very impressed with our dining experience. The staff were very polite and professional. We decided on a shared entree of calamari fritto with white truffle aioli, which was absolutely delicious. Then for mains a rib eye with field mushroom jus and chips, a duck and mushroom risotto and a calbrese salad to share. It took no time for the.meals to come out and they were all absolutely scrumptios. The produce was excellent and everything was cooked to perfection. There was a suitable small drinks list, but one to suit most people.nOverall, we had a delightful dining experience and will definitely be coming back.
