Had lunch here today. Usually the food is quite nice but I tried the pan fried snapper and it was terrible. It was rock hard and dry it was difficult to swallow as it resembled a hard frisbee. I appreciate crispy skin on fish but this was next level! I feel like for $36 it was inedible.
I thoroughly enjoyed my initial experience, which is what prompted my return today. However, the entire experience was ruined by a rude and incompetent manager. My sister and I received garlic bread that was disgusting, the garlic was burnt and so we made the decision to send it back. You cannot eat inedible food. The ‘manager’ came out with the garlic bread in her hands and demanded to know what the problem was. We explained the food was inedible, and that we didn’t want to eat it. She got extremely defensive, told us that is just how the food is made at Hotel Steyne and that a refund would not be given. We did not request a refund, we simply sent the food back. The confrontation was unnecessary and distasteful. Will I be going back? Probably not, which is unfortunate because the chicken burger is really good.
Great location; food was disappointing.nEntrees came out with main meals.nOysters Kilpatrick were cold but main meals were okay.nCustomer service way below par; only a few plates were cleared the rest remained uncleared for such a long time we moved them ourselves to a vacant table.nGood variety of drinks available.
Very big, lacks atmosphere. Went to the Asian restaurant upstairs. Huge seating area and it was empty. On arriving we were advised they would be closing at 6pm on a Tues night. I am sure there are better choices to dine and wine in Manly. Probably more suited to big groups who just want to drink or watch sport
Extremely expensive. $25 for two small beers not pints plus an illegal credit card surcharge on top. Sad to see but the amount of people out on a Friday night at this venue has decreased markedly over the years because of the crazy high beverage/food costs.
