Excellent Chinese food! Visit to Hobart from HK, and I can assure you that the food is very authentic and at a very high standard !!! Very friendly service as well. Very impressive and will be back for sure. Highly recommended
I like all the decorations of the restaurant. But the flavor of dishes could be better an more authentic. We tried two dishes one is too sour and the other was not savory enough. The three dishes charged different from the price on the menu at the end.
Went there with friends for lunch. My friends have been there several times but for me it was my 1st time. We all had a fabulous time with great food and service. It is now on my regular list. Highly recommended!!!
This place has been here for years and I'm glad it's still the same. Brings a bit of nostalgia. Food wasn't overly great. The duck was full of bones and wasn't very enjoyable. But everyone else I was with seemed to enjoy their meals.
Got two takeaways from the restaurant. MIXED veggies and rice. Got Two Meat stir-frys. Oh and ordered dimsims, didn't get those either. Rang to talk. Was told they'd make another, then in the next breath said they'd give a free meal next time. But didn't take name????? Beyond Poor
Hadn't gotten Takeaway from here in about a year. Very pleased that I finally did. Must be a new chef or something because this is legit the best Chinese in Hobart. Special fried rice is on par with king wah in newtown and for way cheaper and their sweet and sour battered king prawns are IMO the jewel of moonah's culinary experience. yum!
Visited this restaurant over the weekend, despite having read the mixed reviews online, because we felt like having Chinese. I was hoping that the good ones were correct. The decor is quite nice, nothing amazing but pleasant, and the staff were good...but ....the food...hmmmm - and really when it comes down to it, if the food's not up to scratch, who cares about the decor. I'm afraid I have to agree with some of the reviews on the not so good side. My dining companion said his was ok, but lacking in flavour and sauce - he had the beef and black bean. I had the tofu hotpot which was highly spoken of by the waitress when I asked about it. When it arrived....oh dear...I had a nice little metal pot with some plain tofu some vegetables...carrot, cauli, a few bits of capsicum, a few bits of baby corn - I think that was about it. Almost totally devoid of any sort of sauce, and what sauce there was had absolutely no flavour whatsoever. The dish was basically plain vegies I suspect might have been microwaved, although could have been steamed, bunged in a pot with a couple of bits of tofu. Not even any garlic or other flavouring. The whole thing was pretty much completely tasteless. I know there will be people out there saying... oh well serves you right for ordering tofu - let me assure those of you who think that - tofu is yummy with the right flvours with it - bit like pasta! The rice we had with the meal wasn't very well cooked either. And my few bits of veg and tofu were more expensive that my friends beef and black bean!! Anyway.. certainly would not bother with this one again. Would rather stay home and have cheese on toast.
The Hong Kong is a Hobart institution. It recently underwent an ownership change and many folks were skeptical about what would happen. I visited there with the kiddos tonight to test it out. We ordered prawn crackers, prawn dumplings and dim sims. We then moved on to scallops with veggies stir fry and an order of special fried rice. I enjoyed a glass of lovely crisp sauv blanc to accompany the meal. The service was friendly and welcoming, the food was outstanding. Fresh Tassie scallops lightly stir fried in crunchy fresh veggies? Omg heaven. I’d be back here in a shot next time we are in Hobart. I declare the transition a success!
Good food, not over priced, friendly staff. Banquet was amazing and they were happy to change anything we wanted
Consistent quality and service. Not gourmet but fresh high quality food, great value for money. Highly recommend for everyday dining.
