We had lunch at the Home Hill Winery today. I’m so glad we booked as we witnessed numerous people turned away. We arrived an hour early to experience wine tasting before a 3 course lunch. The meals were generous, delicious and wonderfully presented. The cost was very reasonable. I need to mention the service .. possibly the best I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. If you are visiting Tasmania and want to take a loved one to a special restaurant, I recommend the Home Hill restaurant and winery.
Overall the experience was mediocre. The place was very beautiful and the quality of food and wine was unparalleled. My steak was cooked as I wanted. The wine, Home Hill Estate Pinot, was one of the best ones I've ever tried. Hiwever, unfortunately the waitress were not friendly at all and ruined the good vibes. When she was serving the food on the table, she did it intensely that a piece of the vegetables in my dish was thrown out on the table.
Sunday lunch, very busy noisy dining room due to poor acoustics and everyone is having a good time! That is the only downside noisy The food I had lamb loin was some of the best I have had. Beautiful with some additional veg which unfortunately you have to pay extra for. The great thing about Home Hill is that it is where they make Landslide Pinot Noir wine, a bloody gorgeous wine particularly with a sumptuous lamb loin with a precisely cooked pink centre. Our party of six all thoroughly enjoyed their meals...so thanks again Home Hill for some lovely memories.
Great architecture. Went in for a wine tasting in the Huon Valley, we didn’t have a booking but they made space for us to try their list of wines their restaurant was fully booked so I recommend calling ahead to reserve a table for lunch. After that we both had a tasty glass of Pinot Noir outside in the sun overlooking the green hills which surrounded us.
Beautiful vineyard and very picturesque landscape of rolling hills and grape vines. The wines were of a high standard and the meal we had exceptional in taste and presentation. However, I would not return. Compared to other vineyards I have visited the service was poor and deserves a 0 star rating- we were a large tour group of 11 and greeted with a menu at the door to select our lunch order. No explanation of the 3 lunch options provided and a response of "that's the idea" when the group joked about how rushed the the order was. The 5 wine tasting then proceeded at the same pace - minimal to no explanation of the wines, no information about the history of the vineyard and the server quite rude. I pushed the server to provide more information about each wine being quite the wine taster myself! Answers were brief, abrupt and came across as a hassle. The wine tasting was completed standing up despite numerous empty tables which we then proceeded to sit at after the tasting for lunch. We witnessed other groups experiencing a sit down tasting with what looked like a more enthusiastic and knowledgeable wine taster. You also provided with one glass which was used for each wine without the offer to rinse each glass as to not influence the next tasting. Total wine tasting was less than 20 minutes you didn't have time to air each wine and sip before the next was being offered. We were googling the wines during the tasting and researching each batch off the menu we found at the bar this was not offered to each guest. One wine tasting menu was placed at the front of the bar for the whole group so tasting notes had to be mental and the pricing photographed for later reference in case you liked anything you tasted.
Amazing time here! Food was incredible & so were the wines!
A really nice, welcoming and comfortable dining experience with even nicer wines to accompany. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is really unpretentious in a really good way! The agnolotti pasta was just spectacular and the we couldn't leave without getting some wines!Food: 5/5
We had a lovely experience with our tour group. Some reviews are negative with the service of the cellar door, but our guide was fantastic. The wine was great and the whites and sparkling wines well worth a try. They are famous for their Pinot so that was the great finish. We didn’t stay for lunch but it looked delightful.
Awful wine club experience recently, been with them for 3 years. These days it took months for them to response my email and I actually just want to buy some wine ridiculous isn’t it, you have beg them to take your money and once the wine club manager finally responded, it’s just few words in it, clearly she doesn’t have the time. Shame, they use to make good wine and good value. I’m done with these rude people
My Son and Daughter in law had their wedding here last weekend. The lack of attention to detail and non existence of table service and blaming us for their obvious mistakes was hugely disappointing. Guests were standing there and not a single drink in their hand or food until we complained. Table drink service was non existent. We complained multiple times! Even following the table seating arrangements seemed too difficult for staff and we were left to rearrange the seating properly. The setting is beautiful but the service was lacking. These frustrating mistakes did sour the special day. Communication from the venue was very sparce and the venue seemed to be under staffed. What should have been a joyous day fell a little short of what could have been if the venue truely valued our feelings. Even talking to the owner Rosemary face to face was quite difficult as she wasn't truely listening and was pushing her own agenda! Highly disappointing.
