This hospital and their staff are excellent. They looked after my very sick mother with a caring and very professional manner. They are all very friendly and my mother recovered in "quick time" and exceeded our expectations largely due to the quick and accurate diagnosis then the care and physio all conducted with a high level of competence. This includes the emergency, ICU and the ward. Ie. The whole package - faultless. Thoroughly recommend.
I am 2 days out of Hollywood hospital. I was in for a gastric sleeve, my nurse on the first evening after my surgery I rang for her and asked if she could assist in disconnecting my electric compression socks so I could go to the toilet and assist me to get up. She looked at me like I was a complete inconvenience and said I need to do this on my own. This was the day of having my stomach taken out and I shouldn’t have been bending. I didn’t ring that bell at all for the next whole night as I felt like I was inconveniencing the staff. The night time nurse that night was nice but then again the following day I had issues with the other nurse. I asked if she could fill in the chart which explains who my nurses are and what I should be doing and information etc, she told “me they don’t do that around there” I had one nurse say that I could lay down flat then when I woke up a couple hours later to another nurse telling me what I was doing was wrong, I was not made feel welcome at all. For the amount of money I have paid to stay in a private hospital with a very intrusive surgery I would expect more. I didn’t have anyone coming in to assist me to walk the halls. Go to the toilet or anything there was nil to no communication other than taking my vitals and asking if I had peed. I will not be staying at that hospital again I think for the amount of money you pay to get cared for in there I was left feeling quite sad and dissatisfied. So much I called my family wanting to come home early as I felt neglected. Didn’t set me up for a good recovery at all.
From admission to discharge I had a great experience. Admission ladies quick and efficient, admission nurse really helpful. Orderly that brought me to holding bay really lovely. Nurses at holding bay efficiency and nice. Recovery nurse very sweet and patient. Ward ladies at gurnsey ward wonderful. Room service was a new experience. It worked great , food was good and came out quickly. Great experience
I had shoulder surgery and eventhough my room was next to the construction site, the noise was keep to the minimum, my experience was terrific. Being a healthcate worker myself, I understand how hectic hospital can be. Right from arrival, admission, theatre, recovery and so on ...everybody were very kind and attentive, most especially the nurses, AINs and the specialists. The only thing I'd suggest is that the menu to be prefilled the night before for overnightor more stay to avoid waiting too long for breakfast, because sometime there is med that had to be taken with meal. Still will give 5stars. Thank you ever so kindly for the team that have looked after me.
I wasn’t a patient, but I was a student on placement at the mental health ward. Out of all the placement I went to, the nurses were the nicest here. From the minute I stepped foot into the hospital all staff were so helpful. From the ordalies, kitchen staff to the nurses and doctors. My first day I was lost I didn’t have to even ask for help one of the ordalies saw that I looked confused and came and gave me a helping hand. The Clinical facilitators were so nice and understanding and made me feel confident. All the nurses were nice, kind and helpful. The kitchen staff always offered to make me alternative food if I didn’t like any food that was made for the day. I just feel really bad that I forgot to give them a box of chocolates on my last day of prac and hope they see this review. Thankyou so much for helping me have a good placement.
I dont think I will ever go back here. Everything is so slow, from getting registered to getting ultrasound result. We arrived around 10am and it is now almost 4pm and still here waiting for the doctor to see my stepdaughter. On top of that I kept getting asked “and who are you?” In a sarcastic way. I honestly didn’t feel like my stepdaughter was looked after very well when one of the very first thing they tell you is that they charge 200 dollars to get checked by the doctor that we still haven’t seen up to this point.
Good food, good rooms, nurses are great except for the male nurse who made me see the light with a fast shot of morphine then proceeded to gaslit me and ask if i suffered from anxiety attacks!! I am still waiting for the hospital to call me back in regards to that - 9 months later... I spent some time in the neurology ward after getting very sick post covid - I never saw a neurologist. I am guessing Dr Badshah never read the discharge summary from Charlie Gairdner Hospital - otherwise he wouldn't have told me that I was just "stressed". After leaving Hollywood and reading my discharge summary and seeing a few untruths ie: referred to this Dr and that Dr. I decided to called the Doctors I was "referred" to in order to discover what happened to the referrals. They informed me that they never received a referral from Dr Badshah or anyone else from Hollywood. 10 days later I was back in hospital with Pancreatitis - and was under the care of Dr Kawryshanker - who didn't know why I was there - wouldn't listen to a word I was saying. Would come into my room to "tick a box" and then leave. Told my husband I was there as I wanted an operation and told me that my husband didn't want me to have an operation - both of which were wrong. I was told to go straight to emergency by a GP after he reviewed test results... I was not there to have an operation nor because I wanted to. A terrible experience I am in no hurry to repeat. Very scary Incompetence.
I have been reading some other reviews with some alarm this morning. First - my bouquets. Some of the nursing staff are truly amazing and really try and give time to their patients. Most of the doctors I have seen have been very helpful, but the Indian lady, whose name I can't pronounce was matter-of-fact, to the point and really "got" me." Special thanks to Olivia the physio. Now, my concerns - I understand that the workload for nurses is high, however, I am an anxious 61 year old woman day 3 after a knee replacement. I need reassurance and that is why I have brought my husband in as my support person/boarder. Only one nurse has asked about Michael's well being. Being a support person is not a cushy job... The acute pain team has also been most compassionate and competent. I was very scared with the concept of getting my regional pain block removed this morning and having appropriate pain management. I also had nausea and vomiting plus diarrhoea and have been very drowsy up until this morning, which was unexpected and confusing. Now recognition of my issues is improving today. Thank you to Maryanne and Brad of the pain team. Food - "trial room service" has been patchy. Looks great on the menu, but mostly cold and overcooked. Choose carefully. No lactose free milk for first three days, when I was told it would be supplied. Explained some of the diarrhoea. Also stopped drug that was contributing to my discomfort. Maintenance - manhole in the bathroom was left open. Safety and duty of care issue. I hope I have explained why I have given only 3 out of 5 stars. Yours sincerely, Kate Sofoulis
I went into Ed and was seen right away . Staff were lovely, I was looked after very well . I didn’t get my echogram test done as there was an emergency. But was told not to worry they would ring me when I went home with an appointment for test and appointment with specialist. Well 15 days later nothing . It seems once you’ve left the hospital that’s it. I wonder if my gp has recieved my notes . I don’t hold out much hope . I’ll find out when I see her .PS STILL WAITING TO BE CONTACTED, I sent my details . I just hope I don’t have a problem with my heart that should have been properly investigated.. very disappointed. Why should I have insurance. Pay the extra and have absolutely NO follow up with essential test and specialist appointments. Not happy Jan
Nurses wanting to apply for employment BEWARE!! Not a good hospital at all!! Do not apply for employment if you want a career change and want to get trained in another area of nursing. You will not have access to staff development nurses, you will not be supported, you will have rediculous patient loads. Particularly Omeara ward!! What a waste of time and energy!!
