Had the pleasure of seeing a gig here, what an absolutely pheonemnal venue. Sound acoustics were spectacular and as the stage was so high, you could clearly see all of the performers despite some tall peeps at the front. Will definitely be coming back next time another gig on. Wonderful experience not to mention how easy it was to leave the venue at the end of the show.
Amazing experience, watched Friday here and honestly best cinema experience I ever had. The venue was so lovely and the film quality and sound was amazing. The venue added little touches like playing ice cube songs on arrival and afterwards and the staff were so lovely! Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the prices were excellent- couldn’t recommend highly enough to anyone visiting or living in Auckland
We love the Hollywood Avondale, such a classic theater that offers interesting viewing. Staff are welcoming, the amenities are clean and the snacks available are always appropriate for the material being viewed. It's always a fun experience seeing a film at this lovely theater.
Outstanding performance by Lucy Dacus last night. Seating upstairs with good stage view and downstairs seats and standing. The place rocked!

Lovely old cinema with good seats and decently spaced too. Went to a Fever jazz evening and loved it
Saw “The Stranger” as part of the NZ International film festival. An old fashioned style movie theatre that has a great bar that served mulled wine that could be taken into the theatre. Stairs only at the entrance and to the upstairs dress circle. Level access to the main theatre once inside. Venue similar to a small Enmore theatre in Sydney. A good example of architecture styles of theatres of yesteryear.
A very interesting old theatre in a suburb that is changing from working class to up-and-coming. For better or worse. It will be interesting to see how long the cheap shops and restaurants survive once the hundreds of new apartments in and around the train station become occupied.
What a fantastic venue. The interior is superb, sound was excellent, easy to move around it. Loved it!
31Jul19 1810 Four stars but nearly five because the snack bar took ten minutes to find the wine my wife ordered and the men's toilets despite being very clean needed more disinfectant. A small and beautiful movie theater built in the 20th century the Avondale Hollywood is a wonderful, cosy, venue. The space-restricted reception/foyer/lobby is ideal for meeting friends a few minutes before the start of a movie. Extremely clean inside the theater itself, the sound quality is very good. The seats are original 20th century movie theater furniture so prepare yourself for thinnish arm rests and spacious seat squabs. Tonight my wife and I came here to see an Auckland Film Festival movie. It was awful. But the friendly theater staff, awesome popcorn and tasty ginger ale were top class.
