Visited for lunch on a Sunday, and the restaurant was not busy. We had great customer service, and enjoyed the great live music. My partner had a sirloin steak medium rare and I had a rump steak medium. Her steak was on point, very tender, full of flavour, and well plated. The rump was also very tasty and well cooked, but the quality of the meet was not that good. Hog's is famous for tender steaks, and this time, even though it was well cooked, my steak was very chewy. The sides were very good, some creamy smashed potatoes, and fresh salad. If you enjoy hot and flavourful sauces, try the Byron Bay spicy sauce.
Ordered steak , mash and vegies with sauce which was awesome steak cooked to my liking. But the veggies were a bit sad. My partner ordered chicken with cheese and tomato sauce, jalapeno, salad and chips on the side. Chicken was not very hot when it arrived. sauces poured on the top was not very hot either, Kinda Luke warm, so it was a let down. Cheese sauce didn't taste that great , more tasted like cheap sliced cheese melted on top. We ordered another side of chips while eating but it was way over cooked. We were there for quick lunch so didn't have the time provide any feedback on the spot. Customer service was good , servers were very nice. Presentation of food was good. Overall not too bad. Need more care around good quality food I guess.
22 saturday Jan This restaurant was No More than 20% FULL OF CUSTOMERS for lunch and patiently waited for 57 minutes for mains, it took that long my kids had to take a nap on the bench seats!! Ordered Salt and pepper Calamari as entre, came straight away, 6 peices of soggy batter. $15 yuck! Smoked prime rib the presentation looked like they swepted the food on to the plate, just looked rubbish $34 Philly cheese steak old stale bread, re heated on the grill so after it cooled down it was hard as a rock, had 7 peices of large square cut steaks, probably re used steak from a previous customer as the steak had bbq flavour, worst of all there was no cheese flavour, had to order their cheese sauce to Try save the meal $19 My 2 kids had kids burger meal opened up the bun litterelly they slapped on patty and cheese, no sauce, no butter tasted like cardboard, dessert was mashed up jelly $15 ×2 And a beer $10 Total $108 been here before, what a poor experience and waste of money. The young kids who have just been toilet trained last year running the show as waitresses did a far better job over all than this crew that's for sure.
Three strikes and your out Hogs Breath Cafe Main Beach Qld. Appalling meal....the once fresh steamed vegetables that came with your steak have become some sort of inedible mushed slop with the potatoes raw served with large chunks of red onion and this was served up to kids also in the kids meal pictured what kids want to eat that? Ordered drinks on arrival, sorry no lemonade we ran out , sorry no lemon lime bitters we ran out! Ordered a cocktail that was served warm with no ice!
Arrived at 4:30pm just after a tour, we were greeted at the door, first ones there. Started to get busier around 5:30pm. Staff member was very nice, drinks and food came quick, did two checks backs on how our food was going. Food was nice and fresh, a lot better than some of the other Hogs restaurants on the Gold Coast. Plenty of long seated booths for large families. Child friendly. Amenities and wheel chair accessible.
The service was so unbelievable terrible and rude! I wish I could say that the food was better, but after dropping our fish on the floor and just Un-eatable food as well as flat coke, I will NEVER eat here again nor will I recommend this hogs Breath to absolutely anyone!
Welcoming staff, we found it best to book as very busy at times. Good portion sizes. Kid-friendliness: Families welcome, kids get a quiz/colouring sheet. Parking: Plenty of free parking. Wheelchair accessibility: A kerb and one step up to the restaurant.
My wife loves the Prime rib steak here. We can order in advance to reserve it which is a nice touch. However as a vegetarian it isn't my ideal place, it seems that vegetarians only eat lettuce leaves or veggie patties. On this occasion they had run out of their meat alternative that would be good to try. I notice most restaurants don't provide many vegetarian protein options it's usually highly carb based. This seems like a good place to bring the family and the atmosphere is warm. The staff are attentive and professional. I would come again but not regularly. Vegetarian options: The meat alternative was not available, the veggie pattie is ok but not worth the price why would the veggie option nearly be the same price as beef? There are many protein alternatives such as the different types of beans, mushrooms, legumes take your pick create a speciality dish.
Pretty good restaurant. The servers are super friendly and they found a seat for us after not having a reservation so we were really pleased with that. The wait time for our meals to come out was minimal and the food tasted really good :
If you are reading the 1 star reviews and thinking surely they cant be right, you are wrong. They are 100% accurate. The food was terrible. Spent $200 on 4 steaks, they arrived cold and fatty. The roast vegetables were fresh from the fridge. All served up on a stone cold plate. We spoke up as we were not happy and were offered a free desert. You wouldn't believe it, cold sticky date pudding. The owner of this restaurant, needs to have a good hard look at his kitchen staff.
