Hobby Habit

Story

Diane and Keith opened their first Hobby Shop in 1986 in the Sefton Plaza shopping centre. It was there that they started to run Saturday afternoon races with remote controlled cars in the car park of that shopping centre. From there they moved the Hobby Shop to the current venue at main North Road, Blair Athol.
Racing was still a big part of the weekends and it was from that new location that they started to rent the carpark of the RSL on Way Street Kilburn. The racing was then called ‘Whip around Way Street’ (some of these racers are still racing today), but due to the larger groups of racers they were forced to find larger premises once again.
From Way Street they moved to the Pooraka markets, but traction was a huge issue and scouts were out looking for a new location.

The Parks Community Centre was available on Saturdays so in conjunction with MRCCA they rented the track on Saturday nights. This racing continued until 20 years later when they purchased the old Marshall Office furniture building.

After 7 months of long days and nights the Melrose Park Hobby Centre was opened. Over the past few years they have improved the tracks, adding carpet and lots of interesting jumps. A children’s playground, slot car room and a café have completed many of the improvements made to this venue. The long term staff Ashleigh, Trent, Sean, Keith and Di are all part of a growing team of twenty staff members.

Our Melrose Park store offers indoor radio control car racing, a fully equiped kids play ground and a cafe providing hot and cold food and drinks. All this and more under 5000 square feet of indoor fun. We also do kid's birthday parties on the weekends. Hobby Habit offers unique two hour birthday party sessions for guests aged seven years or older. The package includes a one hour organised race meet on our Scalextric tracks run by a staff member (all equipment supplied), followed by lunch in a decorated party area provided and organised by the Pitstop Café.

Our aim has always been to provide our customers with the best possible service and after sales service for all the products we sell.

Excellent customer service and Troy was the best person that has ever served me anywhere. His parents taught him something that others don't have manners and to address people as sir or madam. Some may say its old fashioned but it isn't its respectful. He also offers to carry your purchases to your car if your unable. Highly recommend this store to anyone that loves any sorts of vehicles.

Such a cool place with all hobby/models you could think of Huge range of diecast model cars, planes & r/c cars + scalextric tracks for all to use - $5 all day when you bring your own cars
One of the best Hobby Shops in South Australia! I, personally collect the 1:64 Majorette models and they continue to restock and sell an amazing selection of them. Reasonably priced and a great variety, Hobby Habit is a great place to spend a lot of time perusing the aisles. Customer service was fantastic as usual, those blokes are top notch. I’ll be back!!
Good shop for models and rc bashing cars, friendly and knowledgable staff, not much in the way of racing products for rc
Awesome shop. Friendly staff. Slot car track is great for the kids and cheap outing. $15/hr inc car. Or $5/hr BYO car. - 2 stars - Let down by lack of maintenance. Last few visits have been plagued by issues. Broken controllers or issues with the track. 1/2 the not lanes working.
Great store. Heaps of great kits. Found what i wanted, but a bit pricey compared to other hobby shops online. Found what i wanted for $50 cheapet with free postage. Pity Adelaide doesn't much in the way of hobby shops
Very helpful staff that know their stuff
Great store and so much awesome stuff. Really good service last Sunday when I bought an RC Heng Long Ambrams tank.
Bloody great. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Good range of products. Get in there
