From the moment we entered HIH it was crystal clear that our presence wasn't welcomed. When stating we had an appointment but were only interested in browsing at dresses, Cathy whom we were booked with, rolled her eyes as if she suddenly couldn't be bothered assisting us. Her attitude was absolutely appalling. The uncomfortable tension was thick between us it could have been cut with an knife. We were left on our own accord to look for dresses with no help or suggestions from Cathy or any of the staff. I had assumed that Cathy would have been more interactive and attentive with the bride by asking questions and getting ideas on what she wanted for her day. This lead to later on pitching random dresses in the brides direction at the change rooms because she hadn't bothered to ask what she wanted, and when the dresses were turned down Cathy's attitude was unreasonably rude. I'd also like to mention that you're not going to get someone to try something on if you belittle the product itself, I quote, "even if it's an ugly dress it doesn't hurt to try it on" When looking at the bridesmaids dresses she was randomly selecting dresses from the rack in all different colors and telling us to try them on without discussing options or opinions with the bride. The bride wasn't too please as she had already explained to Cathy the color and style she wanted. When we placed the dresses back on the rack and tried on the dresses the bride selected Cathy was offended and unprofessional about the matter. Maybe asking your customer questions and getting a general idea of what they want won't lead to so many misfortunes or embarrassing encounters. I've been in retail stores that sell linen that genuinely were more interested in asking questions and helping me with my color scheme for cushions than Cathy was with the brides wedding. The bride was left to fit herself which I found unusual since every other store we had been in that day the staff had assisted her in the change room, instead Cathy seemed unconcerned standing impatiently outside the change room rolling her eyes. The brides mother had to go in to help her and only then did Cathy offer her service. She made an extremely rude and inconsiderate remark in regards to the brides chest whilst pinning the dress to fit. Nothing like a stranger pointing out what you think are flaws and making you feel little about yourself. As there are plenty of minor things I could speak of these were the major things that affected us. Cathy's customer service was horrible, extremely rude, and inconsiderate. I felt like the whole experience was negative, unwelcoming, unpleasant, and bitter. The lack of professionalism was appalling. The bride left HIH feeling discouraged, emotionally stress, and no confidence. I think it's time for you to change jobs if this is how you're treating your customers. I will not be returning and I have made sure to spread the word to those I know, word of mouth is a very powerful marketing tool in retail. If you need an example for yourself just stroll through these reviews and you'll find one from Cathy addressing a customers review in a very unprofessional and bitter matter.
Hi Hills in Hollywood, My fiancé bought her wedding dress from you for our wedding in February 2016. The dress was purchased from you in 2015 and she was told that because you order your dresses from America, she will be asked to come in once the dress had arrived so as to get her measurements and have the dress altered to fit her correctly by your in-house alterations lady. After arranging a time to come in and look have her measurements taken, my fiancé brought her dress in to your shop in Armadale to meet with your alterations lady who only works on Fridays. The service that she got from this lady was absolutely appalling!! She complained about how big a job the alteration was and how she was unable to do it. She kept pushing my fiancé to go find someone else to do it because it seemed apparent that she could not be bothered doing it as it was a big job. The dress was ordered by you after meeting with my fiancé in person and if the ordered dress was so incredibly the wrong size, that is your problem, not ours. We even agreed to pay $550 as opposed to the $450 to alter it but your alterations lady simply did not want to take on the job. In fact, she even recommended going to one of your competitors to get the dress altered as it was too much for her. If you do not alter the dresses that you sell, then no one else will! When we bought the dress, we were told that you will be able to fit the dress. Now, being turned away so close to the wedding has been extremely stressful for us and quite unnecessary to be honest!! You have caused us a lot of mental stress for no reason. The way your alterations lady spoke to my fiancé was extremely rude! It is your and her job to get the dresses altered as you ordered them. We should not have to go around to your competitors or other dress shops trying to get this fixed 1 month from the wedding. This is absolutely ridiculous!! Even your other staff member who was working on the day that my fiancé went In to get the dress altered agreed that your alterations lady was being unreasonably rude and she could not understand why she would turn down the job leave alone suggest us to go to one of your competitors for it. Your service is absolutely horrible and your alterations lady is extremely rude and inconsiderate. We were paying for a service and now have been thrown in the deep end because it was too difficult for your alterations lady to do the job. We will be taking up this matter with your head office and will pass on the names of your staff and alterations lady on to them to deal further. Thanks for nothing.
From the moment we walked in the door, we knew we weren't welcome. We told the ladies where we were from and that we had made an appointment like they had requested. One of the ladies working there rolled her eyes at us. We were not planning on buying anything that day because we had just began our search for dresses and were just looking at this stage. This, unfortunately, did not suite well with the ladies working at Hills in Hollywood. We tried on one dress and had them pin it up in the back so it would fit and we were talking about different options and how it looked. While we were speaking to one another, one of the ladies interrupted and began unpinning the dress. The other woman was happily helping a bride try on a few dresses and was overly nice to her, I assume because she was planing on purchasing something. The same woman ran into me while hanging up a bridal gown, which can easily happen and she didn't have the courtesy to say excuse me. Basically, I would stay away from this shop for the lack of professionalism from the ladies in the shop. The shop is also dirty and they have cut the sizes out of all dresses and remarked them S/M/L etc. this makes it really hard to know what actual size the dress is. When asked, they say a small is a 6-10 which in my opinion, is a pretty large difference. Also, they hastily request you to have an appointment, assuming because they can't be bothered unless they are making commission. I hate to be so negative all in one post, but I don't want anyone else to be treated the way my group was. You may forget the name of a person, but you will never forget the way they made you feel.
Wow, wow, wow!!! I can not speak more highly of HIH or Cathy. She has been absolutely incredible right from the very start. She is so knowledgeable, helpful, and kept me in the loop throughout the whole process. PLUS she has an amazing range of dresses! I can't wait for my wedding day to wear my stunning gown and marry the man of my dreams! THANK YOU!!! <3
We wish to have right of reply to below post from Linny Clearly from the moment your group entered the store you were identified as internet shoppers. After trying the specific gown requested on in a size to big your group scoured the racks searching for gowns in the same brand in assorted sizes trying desperatley to gauge sizes.You were also heard wispering in frustration about how on earth you would be able to get the size. We were amazed that you had spent the money on airfares to come from Adelaide to gauge the size of the specific gown but when offered, would not pay a small amount for a proffesional Fitting/Sizing to be done. FYI Retail shoppers enquire on the price, something you did not at anytime do. FYI We do not work on commision and the other customer Bride you mentioned being served was also from interstate. Professional service, Lovely gowns. Cant believe people would be so cheap and stingy for their "big day". Internet shopping is the scourge of small retail business, and I'm not surprised owners and now taking steps to protect their livelihoods. If you think business owners don't know what your up too, think again. I didn't buy a gown from Hills in Hollywood but I appreciated the time and care spent with me. I would certainly recommend anyone to go and vist the lovely professional staff there. Dont leave something as important as the bridal gown up to chance!
Expect nothing but the " red carpet" treatment from Cathy and the team, down to earth ... satisfaction guaranteed,, all the time every time! Nothing is too much trouble... Don't believe, don't receive : Expectations exceedeed, all the time,, every time <3
