If you want useful information avoid the old bloke with the beanie at the counter! He just scoffed at my wife when she asked for information on highlights on the way to Mt Isa saying "what sort of question is that"?! He had to ask the lady who was able to give us some information while he waffled on telling stories about himself!

Regrettably, we waited close to 45min for our lunch at the cafe. Yes it's busy, and tables full, but that wait was just far too long. Food and coffee was delish.

Abrupt male member of staff barking orders at us before we were though the front door. This is not charming, it is rude. If you do not enjoy dealing with the public or do not know how to talk to people, then you are in the wrong occupation and it is time to move on.

Charters Towers is a hidden gem of Queensland. Would have loved to have been here 100+ years ago in its heyday.

Had a lovely chat with the fellow and got some great ideas on what to see around town.

Friendly and helpful staff,  that are very knowledgeable about the area.

Very friendly, helpful and knowledgable older staff.  Found out a lot of historical informaion about Charters Towers and places to visit and things to do while we stay here - especially looking/fossicking for thunder eggs.

Great place to visit and stay for a few days.

Great people to have a chat with and will guide you where ever you need to go.
