I took my Nana here after she had a loop recorder put on her heart. She had her surgery done in Melbourne and the dressing was coming off when she got home. I called everywhere I could on a Saturday afternoon and no where was open. Even the Sale Emergency department told us not to bother coming in as they were too busy to help us. But Claire, a nurse at Latrobe Regional Hospital, was just wonderful. She helped my Nana get her wound dressed up and was extremely kind and helpful. My Nana and I are very grateful for her and Latrobe Regional. Also the hospital was very clean and tidy.
I was there about a month ago for an emergency surgery and received the best of care from staff and nurses specifically Nell, Lauren and the Tanjil ward crew. Mr Xu and the surgical team fixed me up and I’m still around to tell the tale! The ‘hospitality’ staff do a bang up job whilst complying to all of their food regulations and requirements too! I’m very thankful for this level of care and those providing it.
Spent 1 night in ER & 1 night in short stay Ward after suffering a spiral break to my arm. Apart from 2 nurses I can’t say anything positive about their staff, doctors included. From having to beg for water or food , being woken late at night for an X-ray, to Doctors not bothering to check records. It’s like the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. Have never had to deal with such a disorganised establishment. Go anywhere but there! I would have be dragged kicking & screaming if an Ambulance took me there again. Avoid at all costs.
The wait times here are shocking! I came here due to uncontrollable vomiting during my pregnancy, I couldn’t even get my words out I was that sick. The reception staff were rude telling me to hurry up. I was told Hyperamisis Gravidarum was all in my head so they refused to help me. When it was time to give birth I wasn’t listened too, I asked for an epidural and was told I needed to wait at least 2 hours as no one was on site to administer it. When I started having contractions to push I told the nurse and was met with the response “don’t need to tell me” definitely won’t be having another baby there again! Worst experience ever!
Nurses do there best 90% mostly awesome.. Doctors are not great. Communication is ordinary. Not much to do besides over think everything and make yourself feel worse than when you arrived. Still I'm alive so stars for that...
Had a good experience, was feeling crook. The nurse came to me in the waiting room and saw me in pain. she game me some pain killers and asked me to wait. was always smiling, felt like nice people work in here.
Recently gave birth to twins on Thomson ward and I couldn't be more impressed with the care of the midwives and staff. From Maya offering to butter my toast when I was breastfeeding to Judes caring nature with my little one in the special care nursery.
This place is an understatement of slow. 5 hours here last night and now 5 today and still in the place I was last night a bracelet thing and that’s it. What kind of hospital is this if u have to wait 5 hours to even get medication a fractured rib isn’t exactly painless
Spent 5 days in Bass Ward, and was extremely impressed by the nurse's willingness to go above and beyond to make sure that I had a comfortable stay. These nurses could teach the doctors a lot about how to properly deal with patients. The nurses were always kind, patient and friendly, unlike some of the doctors! One of the nurses was extremely patient and competent with wound dressings, and another was always willing to change my sheets after having the sweats, no matter what time of the early hours. Others were more than happy to explain more about my the treatment and conditions of my wounds than most of the doctors were willing to do! If ever I need to go back to LRH, Bass Ward is where I want to stay.
Waited 6 hours in evening with my 6yr son in ER and not seen, he had unknown cause of swelling to side of his face and lower ear. Asked triage after about 4.5 hours where we were in the queue, triage nurse told me my son was next depending on who else came in, but 1.5 hours later 2 other patients were taken in first even though they were already triaged prior to asking the nurse how much longer the wait was! A patient was even brought to emergency by the police due to lack of ambulances! Avoid going there if you can.
