Nice and tidy interchange between tram, train and buses. Tram to Gold Coast starts from here.
All-round awesome transport hub — clean, super connected, and right next to Westfield. Parking fills up fast and night vibes can be a bit iffy, but daytime travel? Smooth as.”
Helensvale Station is the main link between the light and heavy rail. An overpass connects the light rail platform to the heavy rail station providing 100 per cent cover for passengers connecting to other services. Access to Gold coast beaches from this station using the G link light rail service. Also access to the Sea world using the frequent bus services. Reasonably frequent train services to Brisbane city via South Bank.
I am an elderly person who frequently uses the G:link at Helensvale Station. In general, the concourse above the two platforms operates smoothly and in an orderly manner. However, I have observed occasions when both the G:link and heavy rail trains arrive at the same time, each carrying large numbers of commuters. This may not be as a result of the ongoing roadworks affecting adjacent stations. At these times, the narrowing of the concourse near the entrance to the heavy train platform — where the lift well and passenger flows converge — does not always appear sufficient to accommodate the combined foot traffic from the main entrance, the G:link stairwell, the lifts, and arriving commuters. This creates what appears to be a significant bottleneck. Fortunately, Australians tend to remain patient in such situations. Queues form naturally, and people generally wait their turn, which helps prevent incidents. However, this may not always be guaranteed, particularly during peak periods.nIt may therefore be worth considering future crowd-management measures, such as installing two-directional escalators on both sides of each platform with overhead access ways. While this may not be an immediate priority, it could be beneficial to keep such options in mind for long-term planning.
Staff are lovely and the station is clean. The car park could do with a multi-level car park. The spots are tight, and many park in spots that are not allocated for parking. Clearly there is a need for more parking. I am guessing that many might got to the shopping centre across the roadnWould be good to see a Government body pump some money into fixing the parking situation now rather than later. Clearly an area that is growing, and being utilised by many.
