Awesome historic station on the Frankston line. Important to note Cranbourne and Pakenham services run express through Hawkesburn on platforms 3 & 4, and trains never actually stop on 3 & 4. Also, Frankston express services skip Hawkesburn. Platform 1 for city, platform 2 for Frankston.nnAfter completion of the metro tunnel, Frankston trains will travel around the city loop Parliament first and Pakenham / Cranbourne trains will travel through the city loop, entering just before South Yarra station.
ONE OF THE OLD STYLE TRAIN STATIONSnHawksburn in South Yarra hasn't changed in decades. If the building was grander or more stylish it would be worth preserving but there is no architectural merit here. There are 4 platforms. Platform 1 is where you catch trains towards the city.nThe concourse is elevated over the train line and there are long ramps joining the concourse with the platforms and the entrance. People with mobility issues may find this a bit challenging as the ramp gradient is fairly steep.nThere is undercover shelter from the rain but no enclosed heated areas.
The station is fine for the most part, services are reasonably frequent, but the station is old, parts of definetly need an upgrade like the roof and minimal seating.
The structure is very challenging for people with mobility issues, also I could not identify if there is a toilet.
