This is the first review I have ever written. I think it is an important one. We had employed Arnetlaw to do a conveyancy for a property sale. Half way through we received an estimate of $3500. We were shocked. My friend who had sold 3 properties by now told us she is paying a fixed price between $1000 and $1500. Her recent one on the Island was $1200. I recommend to find a lawyer to do a fixed rate with your conveyance. When I questioned my lawyer for the discrepancy I received the following answer: Our estimate fees are correct. We do not offer fixed fees unfortunately. However, their firm may have offered a fixed price. We are a full-service law firm where qualified staff are doing the work on your deal. We recommend clients do their due diligence on lawyers, and a starting place for that is to put the lawyers name into the law society website. We suggest you look up their solicitor’s name. At Arnet Law we take our trust accounting obligations seriously. There was absolutely nothing extra in our contract, a straight forward sale and the fees not appropriate. There were also a couple of things we were not satisfied with which could have got us into trouble. Not going there for our other lawyer requirement. The 2 stars are because the service was prompt.
Do not go near these people! Do not call these people. I spoke with one of their junior members for 10 minutes to see if I wanted to meet with her. I sat with her for 30 minutes her rate is $220 per hour .... I did NOT engage them! They charged me for over an hour of their time, but the bill came to double that because they added lots of fees emailing, file storage I absolutely did not engage or instruct these people but they charged me as if I had and then some. These are very bad & incompetent people.
