Wonderful authentic local Launceston market. Full of fresh seasonal produce, pastries, flowers, mushrooms, coffee, music & artisan food producers. A great meeting point for locals and tourists. A must visit if you are visiting this wonderful town and a convenient refuelling stop as you explore this intriguing city.
Good farmer and food market in Launceston CBD, which I may say better than Hobart's Farm Gate Market. The collection of produce and ready to eat food stalls are very good. We tried the scallop pie from the Grumpy Pie stall and cheese burger from the 4 Pigs Farm stall. Both were good, especially the pie . The berry stalls were also good to try mixed berries box and berry jams.
I don’t care much for markets, but I enjoyed this one - it was vibrant without being too crowded; it wasn’t big, but covered everything I could have wanted without me getting lost in the labyrinth or among too many choices. I got some lovely cherries and honey - and a great overview of what’s growing in the nearby farms.
When visiting Launceston we always drop into the excellent Harvest Market. Today we saw genuine roti being made, exactly as it’s made in Malaysia and also scored a delectable GF apple pie from Modo Mio, probably the best GF apple pie you can get your hands on
Great market first time visiting while on holidays in Tasmania, plenty of choices for food, we had a delicious proper pork pie from this guys stand called the grumpy pie guy. While at the markets next to where we bought the pork pie we came across this place that sells organic plant based cacao, hand made chocolate and different types of hot chocolate,the name is Dear Valentine chocolate,they also sell Organic coffee called Tasmanian Organic Coffee they are from Sheffield which also is a lovely town we will be back next time we visit
