My local friend introduced me to this local tradition comfort food. It is a legendary place.nnThe pie taste so yummy and the crust is just nice and compliment the meat, mashed potatoes and the best part is the gravy, such an original flavor.nnThe spot that they choose is also nice with a good view of the military vessels.
This has been the best beef pie of my trip so far! The filling is chunky with a rich, peppery gravy, and the crust strikes the perfect balance—thick yet wonderfully crispy.
This is an unabashed tourist trap with commensurate pricing, but their signature “The Tiger” - a meat pie topped with mashed potato and pea - is actually pretty good.nnJust not sure if I was eating it the way it was meant to be eaten - excavating the pie and leaving the very tough and dry pastry shell uneaten, all the while hoping a seagull won’t pop a deuce right into the open crater in the centre of the pastry.
Nice and unique setup. We ordered the tiger pie and hotdog de wheels. Tastes good even we dont usually eat peas
This Sydney famous spot was a let down. The pie wasn’t crisp in the slightest, and the filling was more gravy than meats. We ordered one with the special mash, mushy peas, and gravy ontop. The mash tasted like it was made from a box and while it went well with the pie, there was a much larger percentage of mash and mush than pie, so at the end we were left with no pie and a pile of glop. The food does not live up to the hype.
