Last night, my friend and I ordered fish and chips from here. I ordered the grilled fish plate and it was absolutely delicious. The serving size was very generous and good value. Despite being extremely busy we received our orders promptly. The real MVP was the server though. They went above and beyond to create an inviting environment and were able to remember faces to orders to create an efficient service. I’ll be recommending this place to all of my friends!
1 fish, 6 calamari rings and a scoop of chips cost me $31.60. Extremely expensive. Hoping it tastes good. Edit. The calamari tastes great and was way bigger than I expected. I could only eat 3. The barramundi was great! Actually tastes like fish! The chips were lovely too. My only issue was it cost over $30 and that was just for me.
Delicious. Chips were crispy and fish was fresh. Serving size generous with the chips. Value for money is as expected from a waterfront popular shop. We would eat here again.
First time we ate here the food was great but tonight the food was overcooked except for the seafood sticks. As diabetic it's dissapointing to know that this food is bad for my health and then to force it down as its so expensive to throw out. Avoid the indian guy if he is cooking!!!
Harold's was so good 2 years ago everything tasted so fresh, but i don't knkw what has happened , these days it's a hit an miss, sometimes tastes fresh but then sometimes taste like boxed frozen yuckiness , it's way to over priced they could do better with fish snack packs , I think the pricing needs to change especially with the quality of the food sometimes , such a good location though
Really decent place to grab fish and chips on the weekend. I ordered the seafood basket on a Sunday evening. Was hot and delicious when I returned home!
Loved the fish and chips, crumbed barramundi was really crispy and fresh. Good size content cooked to perfection, chips were great no overlaying taste of oil the batter was nice and crisp. Would love to go there again.

Excellent! I got crumbed mackerel and chips. The crumb was exceptional and the fish perfect. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Service was prompt. We will be back.
I walked in with my friend as hungry tourists from NSW searching for a good feed without reading any reviews. We’ve dined in many so-called “high-end” seafood restaurants and bought takeaways in many “best fish-and-chips shops in town with the g’day mate marketing spiel” in our road trip journey. Harold’s is one of the best and surprisingly one of the most affordable. We spent $37 on a meal deal that could feed up to six hungry humans. We’ll definitely call in again should we ever return to Townsville for a whistlestop. Parking: Good location with plenty of parking along The Strand
