Although there is a good amount of parking for this pool, it's very popular and you will have to look for a park. As pools go, it's got a great water treatment system so the pool water is very good. There are 2 main swim schools there that teach all ages to swim. Both are excellent. The life guards pay attention to the people in the water and those on the sides. If you have a child there, they will ask you to pay attention to your child not you're phone. I think that's great. I like their attitude and respectfulness, and the fact they are there for you, not just a job. Shows that the management have done a good job instructing. They have a number of changerooms, a good gym, sauna, and a number of pools, both indoors and out. Also one of the pools is not for kids to train in. It's more for relaxing for the other patrons.
My first impression of the pool was very good. After paying at the cash register, I stood directly in the bathing area, which meant that I still had shoes on. Unfortunately, many other people were wearing shoes too, which was very unhygienic. The changing rooms are currently being renovated, which is why the sauna area was closed. The temporary changing rooms were not well signposted, but the staff were very helpful. Later I discovered the large changing rooms outside. The pools are very well heated and it was quite relaxed for a Saturday.
I was visiting Melbourne for work and had gone to one public pool in the CBD. It was 25m and so crowded that I was miserable. I left after 25 minutes and returned to my hotel to see if I could find a place where I could book a private lane. That's what led me to the Harry Holt Swim Centre. A private lane is not cheap and you have to book in advance but it was well worth it for me because I could only swim during the busy after-work period. I enjoyed my swim there. People at the reception desk were friendly, the facilities are very nice with multiple indoor pools and a 50m heated outdoor pool. This will be my swimming place when I'm visiting Melbourne.
Pre sunrise dip. The outdoor pool is so inviting and warm on a cold morning.
Well, something going on here....n1. So you're paying full price for casual swimming and then you realise four!!! out of six lanes are taken by LTS. Now you have to squeeze with other seven people in two lines!!! How good is that? If you taken lines for some reason, don't charge people full price or tell them there's only 2 lines available!n2. One of the changing room doesn't have hot water for three weeks now! How good is that? Also, in one cabin there's not enough water pressure to rinse off properly!nI think management has to fix all those things to get back good reputation!
