An absolute must for special celebrations. This is definitely a hatted restaurant, it is so clear in the food, the wine, the service and the gorgeous surroundings. We had the 4 course menu where you choose each course. All the food was great but the standouts were the marron, the pasta with truffle, the brisket and the peanut mousse dessert. If you go there try these and you won’t be disappointed. Have the Rusden Shiraz with the brisket. Wish we lived in Adelaide so we could go more often!
Good food looking down adelaide hills. The price is reasonable thinking that this is hatted restaurant, wine selection and matching was excellent. Especially, sake and wagyu matching was well presented. All staffs were very kind and knowledgeable. I was enjoying the food nice and peacefully. Thank you for the great food and experience :
This is one of the best dinning experience i ever have. Food was really really amazing, I like every dish I had so do my partner. The bread was soooo soft. The kingfish entree was so good. I really love the third course which was the beef, just perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, the beef brisket also melted in your mouth. The duck was nicely cooked too with a hint of tea flavour. The chocolate mouse dessert was delicious but not surprising compare with the first few courses. And I barely taste any wattleseed flavour in it. My partner said she requested a happy birthday plate with my dessert in advance as it was my birthday dinner, but they didn't serve any. A little bit sad but that was okay as they maybe too busy. Overall it was really a great dinner and I was really happy. Will definitely coming back in the future.
Superb experience! Every single dish was exquisitely prepared. Have to highlight the Toothfish and the Spinach Veloute. The toothfish was perfectly seared and I was stopping myself from licking the spinach veloute off of my plate and my partners!! The Black Angus Tenderloin has to be one of the best steaks I’ve ever had ever! I travel internationally more than 20X a year; so I’m not easily impressed with steaks. But this is hands down one of the best steak dishes! It was a tiny portion but heaven in the mouth! The venison Tataki was quite the surprise! Absolutely loved it! I can probably keep raving on and on for another 20 mins! Service was incredible! Nam the sommelier was a storyteller and possessed great knowledge of wines and pairings! Perfect evening for our anniversary! Thank you HVR!
Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. The food was delicious, alot of care and effort went into cooking and constructing the dishes. With 91 pages of wines this is the place for any wine lover, fantastic selection and if you get stuck the staff with extensive knowledge can guide you. 10/10
Very Disappointed! I honestly don’t understand how this place has so many good reviews. We were a group of 17 people and were celebrating my brother’s 21st and we had a really bad experience. The food was all cold and didn’t meet the expectations of a fine dining restaurant. They also wanted to charge us for 18 people instead of 17 people, plus a lot of water bottles we didn’t drink. The bill ended up being 300$ less after we noticed the extra charges. Such a disappointment. The only good thing about this place was the style and architecture of the Mt Lofty House. Never going back again.
9/9/2021. For our 20th wedding anniversary to be stuck at what felt like the worse table next to the drinks station was utterly disappointing. Interrupted every 5 minutes by the waiters pouring drinks right behind us was unnerving. We almost left but luckily the food was amazing so would recommend but ensure when booking to get valley views.
Food was good and the setting was excellent. Unfortunately service was a let down. We had to follow up the waiter to place order for the drinks. One of the pairing was incorrect and had to be pointed out to the sommelier. Glasses weren’t topped up and left empty for ages. The fish on the menu was swapped without prior confirmation with the guests. They offered a complimentary drinks at the end but never bothered to follow through with a drinks menu. Again, had to be requested. Too many service gaps.
Disappointing lunch overall. Found three sharp bones in the King George whiting mains - something we wouldn’t expect in a three hatted restaurant with so many accolades. Mains cleared away and offered another mains. Not a fan of lamb so asked for another dessert instead. Amuse bouche wasn’t presented equally one of the cheese toppings were already toppled over and the ice cream in one of the desserts had already melted when it was brought to our table. This lack of detail is really surprising for a restaurant that scored 16 out of 20 points in AGFG. The positives were the lovely views and delicious bread and butter. Appreciated that they cooked the raw beef for me. Service was very cold - the manager wearing a blazer different from the other servers poured our water but made no effort to converse or speak to us at all. Mentioned on our booking that we were celebrating a birthday yet nothing was done. Would not recommend this for a special occasion restaurant. Food was ok but not wow. For a four course aud135pp lunch here, you’ll find much better value at Maxwell Wine for aud110pp nine courses degustation.
Beautiful place to eat. Food is impeccable would recommend for the food, service and views !!Food: 5/5
