The food was delicious. I recommend the 2 course roast duck, the tofu and the salted fish fried rice. The staffs was friendly and helpful, during our time dining there.
The pork buns and custard buns are the best in town! Top 3 yum cha place in Brisbane. However the service is not too great.
Ordered the dumplings, custard egg tarts, brisket, chicken feet, eggplant and prawn, hargou dumplings, combination dumplings, chicken steamed rice with ginger, calamari, rice noodles with prawn, taro cake, and vegetable dumplings. All tasted nice but the calamari had been sitting there for a while so it was quite chewy and we had ordered 2 servings.
After asking around for recommendations, we’re told to visit Haoke, for its dim sum. The location was a little tricky to find but nothing major. They sell a wide array of yum cha, Cantonese and Szechwan cuisine, and other Chinese dishes. Most dishes are affordably priced, and they open late, until 2am. Our favourite dishes were the massive and succulent XL Crab Roe Dim Sums and the Prawn Dumplings. Another nice dish that we tried was the Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce. Overall, the dim sum have lived up to their reputation. We’ll return to try their a la carte menu
Had yum cha session with some friends. We shared about a dozen different items and everything worked out to be about $17 per head which was fairly good value - we didn't go crazy, but neither did we leave hungry... pretty much a Goldilocks level of just right. Highlight of the meal was this black charcoal? version of the runny egg custard bun aka lava bun which was perfectly executed - light fluffy bun encasing a rich, oozy molten mess of hot salted egg custard. Not sure of the price, but definitely worth trying. I'd suggest either taking a few small, gingerly bites to begin with, or tear open carefully. Noticed that the restaurant also has a new-ish bubble tea/yoghurt drinks stall Happen Tea! Didn't get any this time but will definitely keep in mind to try out next time.
I found the spicy wok chicken was one of the best meals I've had in years, flavour was unbelievable. The steamed barramundi was also cooked to perfection, had the deep fried white bait and so impressed with those. Would highly recommend this restaurant and those dishes.
Yum cha at 12.15pm. Restaurant was full despite the virus. 8 dishes, 3 people $52.80 plus $2 per person tea/water. Total $58.80. Taste average. Staff good enough. Had to wave them down though. Squid tentacles, stuffed tofu & stuffed eggplant 3 pieces each are V price, so $8.80 each. See pics for other pricing.
This is a good restaurant for family/ friend gathering. The price varies according to your choice. Seafood trouts, lobsters, crabs are instantly cook and you can choose stir fry, steaming. The service is ordinary and you’ll be served when needed. The only dish I disappointed is the Singapore Noodle, fail , not enough curry and hence makes the dish looks pale and lost seasoning, the rice noodle didn’t stir long time enough> don’t taste the wok heat. Every restaurant’s ingredients are different so I can’t comment on that. I’m not a picky person but it just a fair saying.
Pretty good Yum Cha here - the only place I have seen the steamers actually piled high on the trolleys! Food is good quality and friendly staff although one of the waitresses I encountered didn't speak Cantonese disappointed. Good tea, and nice tables.
We've been to this place quite a few times previously when I was pregnant and craving a late night meal yum cha starts from 9pm. Went back again tonight and found that it wasn't as good as I remembered. The pastry on the dumplings were really thick, we tried a few including the prawn and soup dumplings which didnt have much soup. The service was very efficient and helpful though we had to wait quite a bit for our fried pork dumpling I was already digested and full by the time it came out so we took it home. Hopefully it was just a fluke tonight as it is quite a popular place, convient for a late night meal and well priced.
