Very nice hiking place where kids can go as well. With my two kids 2 & 5 yrs old and it took us an hour with few stops in b/w. Kids loved it it was bit hot as it was a 38 degrees day. Best time to hike on a hot day is like 9 am as soon as they open the place Must take water bottle with you water bottle.
It was surreal to be inside the famous "Picnic at Hanging Rock". An ideal day trip location. The rocks are amazing. Beautiful area for a day trip. The park closes at 5 pm Since the path is steep, the summit walk does take some time. Take extra care when the path is wet after rain. During your walk to the summit, make sure to carry some snacks and water.
It’s simply fresh air, hiking and a amazing panoramic view. Plenty of space to picnic with family and friends. I recommend wearing appropriate shoes for the hiking, some rocks are slippery and the ramp and stairs are not very safe without proper shoes or boots. When you reach the top you’ll find an amazing and beautiful view and peace. On holidays the place is very crowded but you can enjoy the view and the place is wide. I just paid the parking $10 bucks for the day. You must visit this gorgeous place!
A great place to go with family and friends. There are plenty of places to picnic. Enough accessible toilets. Drinkable water bottle refill taps. And more than adequate play space for a kick of the footy, game of cricket and more. Plenty of parking sports available, and on especially busy days, parking can be extended to the sporting field. No need to worry about parking. It cost $10 per car. Ticket is purchased at the machine near the cafe before leaving. The summit walking took about half an hour. Took the set of stairs instead of going all the way around. At the top there are excellent views over the surrounding farm and bush land, and spectacular rock formations. Bring grippy shoes as the rocks can be slippery year round. Kangaroos are here also. In general, a friendly and diverse atmosphere. I hope this place will remain open for years to come.
I recently visited Hanging Rock in Victoria, Australia and it was an incredible experience. The rock formation is an impressive sight to behold, and the views from the top are breathtaking. The hike to the top was challenging, but not overly difficult and the reward was worth it. The view of the surrounding countryside was stunning and I was able to spot wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, and emus. The atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful and I was able to relax and take in the beauty of the area. The surrounding forest was lush and green and I felt like I was in a natural oasis. I would highly recommend Hanging Rock to anyone looking for a peaceful hike with beautiful views.
Me and the boy went for the day. Bloody good fun. Turned me into a big kid, so the both of us had a real ball exploring all the nooks and crannies. It's still old school too. You're not restricted to a path or fencing or warning signs. It's good val, highly recommended. Restrooms: The restrooms are at the bottom only.
This is a very atmospheric and beautiful destination. I could not remember the boom gates and fees but it had been awhile. They keep the place immaculate so you know the money is being used well. I enjoyed a chat to the park ranger, hearing about the accidents that people have had. You are rock hopping in parts and it’s a steep ascent and decent so be prepared to puff!
One of my favourite places for visit this year. Not very far from Melbourne and has a plenty of open spaces for family gathers, a bit of hiking and exploring and a cafee to enjoy hot or cold drinks. I would recommend installing some BBQ areas throughout the open spaces to spread the visitors and avoid gatherings.
Hanging rock is a great place to hike and climb rocks. There is a well established path from the information centre/ticket office to the rock itself. It does take a bit of effort to walk uphill to the rock so allow a good half hour. The rocks have several vantage points from where you can view the surrounding farmland. Near the car parks are BBQs and picnic areas. I would recommend not reading the novel ‘Picnic at hanging rock’ before going as it can give a different perspective to the visit.
Lovely easy walk. Can be done in 25-30 mins. Plenty of parking space at entrance and further in but I went on a Saturday and it was quite crowded. There is also a cafe, small playground, toilets and many tables. Plenty of open space for picnics too. To exit, a $10 fee for cars must be paid card acceptedVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
