Story

Hanabishi has been tempting Melbournians with traditional Japanese food since 1989, offering a broad range of Japanese cuisine to suit all taste buds.

Open for Lunch and Dinner five days a week, Hanabishi offers everything from traditional bento boxes, fresh sushi, sashimi, and delicate wagyu gyu sashi (wagyu sashimi), to specialties such as their salt kiln barramundi (Barramundi no Shio gama yaki) and miso marinated sea perch wrapped in cedar wood (sugiita yaki). We also offer a hearty premium grade wagyu sukiyaki or shabu shabu hotpot, only available for dinner.

Bookings are essential however we do welcome walk in guests, we are also able to cater for large functions in our upstairs dining area.

Enjoyed a fresh and delicious meal here for my dad’s birthday. Staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations.

One of the best sushi I have had. Service is exceptional. Fast and very professional. Highly recommend.

Akio set menu had nice sashimi and sushi. Their famous Duck dish was a bit strange - the sauce should have been served separately I think. Matcha crème brûlée and soy sauce ice cream and nope I didn’t misread the menu was very delightful though.

had katsudon today. taste is great as ever. but how come katsu for take away is smaller than the one i had before lockdown?

Our go-to Japanese restaurant for special occasions. We visited again for their Valentine's day set menu. Lovely presentation, great taste and good service. Price is on expensive side but it's worth it.
