The beef fillet dish was disappointing not worth $28 . The squid dish was blend and so was the veg dish. The sauce was not thickened. Order before 6 if you decide to t/away as they can get very busy after 6 to 6:30 and might end up waiting for 45-1hr for your t/away meals to be ready. Their staff dont have a leader on the floor and we can see the waitresses running around trying to serve every table when dinner service gets busy. The gals on the floor are very polite and calm though.
Nice staff and atmosphere, but honestly the food was really, really bad. Our chicken dish tasted like a Kan-tong jar sauce, and even the cutting of the vegetables felt very inauthentic. Most of our dishes were lousy and matched what I’d have cooked myself in first year University. We could have just ordered the wrong meals, but it wasn’t great. Pity.
Had a wonderful dinner here during our visit to Port Douglas. The service was efficient and courteous, the food was fresh and couldn’t fault it, but more than anything we loved the atmosphere. We sat out on the verandah on a steamy summer night under the fan, with the red Chinese lanterns hanging over the tables, comfy cane chairs, lush garden, insects chirping and mozzie coils burning…. Authentic FNQ, we absolutely loved it. My recommendation? Don’t pay any attention to the one star reviews.
Beautiful dine in experience, not the best location out of town but worth it. Traditional decor in an airy tropical setting. The meals we had were as good as any 5 star resort I have visited and the staff were very helpful.
I totally do not recommend to have food at this place. I went with my friend and partner to have dinner, my partner ordered pork in black bean sauce, the meat was old and the smell was very bad, vegetables the same, were soggy, old and the taste was absolutely bad. I ordered “king prawns” in cashew nut sauce, the shrimps were not king prawns, were small and the sauce was smelly, my friend ordered a vegetarian stir fry and again, the vegetables were absolutely bad, smelly and old. The rice on the side was absolutely not cooked properly. We couldn’t finish our dinner, we ended up throwing out the food because we were grossed out eating it. I have been working in hospitality for many years, and this kind of things cannot happen, I haven’t experienced a situation like this before. I’m reading the reviews and I’m surprised no one has got a stomach infection, the pork my partner ordered smelled terrible and I told him not to eat it. Please guys, be a little bit more mindful of the food you’re offering, most of your clients are there fon holiday, on top of everything the restaurant is expensive for what it is.
Arrived before 5pm for takeaway, no problem served straight away. Very quick service, beautifully cooked & so fresh, definitely recommended will go back. Lovely young boy taking the ordersFood: 5/5
Love food great seating on patio lovely ambiance we did choice d banquet for 4
So happy to find food that I have often enjoyed in China. Lovely staff working in challenging times too.
The WORST chinese you will ever submit your tastebuds to. We ordered 3 takeaway meals and rice and they were all so awful we threw most of it away. The bbq pork was probably from the 80s because it was dry, smelled and looked funny and inedible. All 3 meals had soggy veggies that were definitely not fresh - either out of a freezer bag or were once fresh but decided to spend the last 4 decades with the pork at the bottom of a wok. My black bean sauce was tasteless and watered down, essentially brown water. Prawn dish had translucent veg with again a sauce that had a few rinses before it was served to us and the tofu dish looked chewed and spat out. Even the rice was soggy and tasteless. Dont trust a chinese place which cant even do rice properly. Whoever gave this place more than 2 stars does not have a clue. Stay away!
We got take out here while on holidays. It was the worst Chinese our family have had in 5 months on the road. Waited over an hour. Food bland watery and portions were small. I actually felt like I was going to get sick from it. $100 wasted.
