Lovely people and rather than the big wineries with huge finances to play with, this is a small family vineyard with absolutely excellent wines. Also home to an excellent French restaurant called 'Mistelle'.
Fantastic wines, such a nice surprise to find this winery while coming here for lunch. The vines were planted in the 70's which is quite old for the region. They had a great range of whites and reds to suit all our palates.
Our extended family had a marvellous Mothers Day last Sunday at Hainault winery. It was our first visit. Friendly, welcoming service in a beautiful location. We put a blanket down on the grass by our table for the kids and they loved it. It's a small family winery, so you shouldn't expect fast-food service; it's a place to linger and enjoy. There's a sensible limited menu, and the food was beautifully presented and enjoyable. Plus great wine.
Hainault review To Hainhault Vineyard, Our condolences to the Hainhault team. Monday 26 September 2022 will mark the end of the Mistelle restaurant and Hainhault vineyard partnership. Over recent years Mistelle has paired your wines with their extraordinary cuisine and showcased your product. In doing so they have introduced the fruits of your hard earned labour to thousands of new customers. I have no doubt this change is heartbreaking for you. As a loyal Mistelle customer I wish to extend my sorrow to you and the team. Helen & John Bevan
My husband and I had lunch here today. The sharing platter was possibly the nicest one I've ever had. The young lady who served us was prompt and friendly. Overall this place has a chilled "lunch at your friends house" kind of vibe. We'll definitely return.
It was a cold rainy Sunday and we were put by the heater and offered a leg blanket so we were toasty warm. The staff were pleasant and we enjoyed the food. However we never received one round of drinks and our desert order was wrong, the young woman taking the order didn’t listen. The toilets aren’t for the elderly or people who aren’t steady on their feet the ramp is slippery and the toilets were cramped portables. The view over the vineyard is lovely.
Our party of 5 arrived at 1pm, ordered our meals at about 1:30. Entrees arrived 45 minutes later. Soup had to be sent back as it was cold. Mains weren’t served until after 3:40pm! Other groups were walking out who weren’t happy about the extremely slow and inattentive service. We were offered a complimentary bottle of wine, though. Having the dogs walking through the restaurant was quaint at first, but then watching one of them up on a table eating the scraps was very off-putting.
Not a great experience unfortunately. First they didn't have our booking noted and then put us in an isolated area. We were able to move tables but the food took about 1.5hrs and was very average. We ate it because we were starving and when we came to leave they couldn't find our order and gave us the wrong bill. This place has so much potential but needs to turn up the notch on the food quality, service and management. I don't think we will be coming back.
Very disappointed in both the service and the food. We're told it would be 15-30 minutes for our food, which ended up taking 1h 15m to arrive. We had also asked for some bread to keep our child going which took over half an hour coming out. Drinks order was taken with the food order and we had to prompt them 30m later when they hadn't turned up. Burger and chips came with 12 small chips so I asked for some more which they then tried to charge for. At no point were we offered a top up of water or more drinks. One of the waitresses was chewing gum which is not a great way to present yourself in a restaurant. We got the bill and explained to the guy how much of a terrible experience we had had, and that we had eaten there on several occasions, and he failed to offer anything off of the bill which is what I would have expected should they had wished to keep our custom. We live in the hills and frequently eat out, but will not be going back here again.
I was there yesterday for the first time with a group of friends and we all loved it!!! Enjoyed the live music, the view, the food very impressed with platters, vegan option on request and of course the wine. Highly recommended, we'll def go back
