Food was exceptional. The service was prompt and friendly. It's a small restaurant so bookings are essential. My favourite dish was the Tuna toro onsen egg! It was so good, I had to order a second portion! Looking forward to going back again to try other dishes. The pork belly at the next table looked amazing and the chicken karage portions are huge,
This is an amazing Japanese tapas restaurant, we had tried 8 dishes including dessert, all very good, we loved everything we tried specially the scallops and duck, we really enjoyed the dinner there, the dishes were served very quick too, the 8 dishes were served in about 1 hr 15 mins , very friendly services. Will certainly go back.Food: 5/5
Trying this place for first time. Nice, small and comfy restaurant. Friendly service. Good quality and flavor of Japanese Tapas. Love the sashimi of the day. And wont hesitate to come back to enjoy some more.Food: 4/5
One of the best communication between customer and owner. At each stage of the booking there is an email, really love this idea. Services very attentive and excellent food presentation. I loved the duck aubergine with the Madeira sauce; the meat was so tender only problem was there was not enough of it. Same go for the sashimi of ge day. I thought it was costly for the size. Taste wise amazing; wagyu beef tataki, blue spot emperor as well as the desert. A good date night meals overall.
The food and service here were amazing. Fresh produce and incredibly tasty! The ebi prawns are incredible, as are all the other dishes. Great selection of alcoholic beverages too. Staff were responsive and quick, despite being understaffed that day. Would recommend this place!!
Staff were friendly, nice location. However, the food was rather disappointing. The beef was almost raw so I asked the waitress if they can heat it up. She was reluctant to do that and asked if I can just leave the beef on the side on the warm pot. I said I did but it is still raw. So she took it back to the kitchen to recook for us. When the beef came out this time, it cooks a little bit better but still very much raw with running blood and chewy. The other dishes that we ordered which I cant remember all the names were just average. Both me and my partner felt really sick after the food, we came home and I literally threw up on the driveway. Such a bad dining experience
First time in HA-LU and it was delicious. The food was delicate and very tasty. We tried for the 1st time the Grilled Okonomiyaki pancake what a beautiful dish, a must try.
Highly recommended; Tasty food; Friendly staff; Good customer service.

Edited review: 01/10/2021 Had a booking for dinner, was seated promptly and our food was served not long after ordering. Everything was brilliant from the food to the service. Could not fault it. Had a better table this time around which made a whole world of difference hence an extra star for this. Was looking forward to checking out this restaurant. Food was ok but portioning except for the salmon was very small indeed for the price you fork out. Not the best Japanese in Perth but service was very prompt. Annoying bit was we were seated near the entrance & the Uber drivers picking up take away were very impatient & kept pestering the waiters. Kinda spoilt the mood for a dining out experience.
