Really enjoyed the exposition covering a wide range of local history from the Gold Rush, Mining, Railway history, farming, schools, etc. Sad to see the museum seems to be heavily affected by the 2022 floods some exhibitions vanished like the scouts or the model railway, some seem in dire need of upkeep especially the ones on the lower section of the museum. Still, good job & good luck!
What a seriously good collection of artifacts and information about the region. Well done Gympie for celebrating your achievements. Some great memories, which without this museum would be lost to us all. Of note was the wonderful story behind how the Australian Light Horse came to wear the emu feathers in their hats. Without a visit, wouldn't have known that. Keep up the good work and it is important that people keep donating to the collection to keep the towns rich history alive. The café is nice way to unwind before or after the museum. Was pleased we ordered the wedges and sandwich, both enjoyable and a decent portion size. Thanks ladies.

Had the best seafood basket for lunch friendly lovely staff. Slow pace walk back in time of how tough it was and how easy we have it today,good for a break then alk or lunch then walk fill in 2 or 3 hrs

Stopped for iced coffee but no ice cream in it and we had pies. The pies were disgusting as their was so much runny gravy we were lucky it was on a plate and not in a paper bag. Good for a Saturday afternoon outing. Lots to see and explore. I would have appreciated more info about the areas under construction so we knew which areas were accessible and not. I am looking forward to going back.
A truely wonderful historical learning experience. A visit to this Museum shows the thousands of days/weeks of collating and organising the many, many detailed exhibits that community members have made to capture the historical formation of Gympie. One could visit many times. Exhibits are housed in individual sheds of all types, houses of note, olde school buildings etc. There are many pieces of heavy industry machinery, including gold mining and railway buildings and rail equipment. There is a Gem Club with a sparkling display. Well kept lawns and gardens make a place of peace and serenity. There is a cafe and facilities. A affordable and modest entry fee helps funds the Centre.
Located within the town of Gympie this quirky museum takes about 2 hours to visit. A lot of the exhibits do relate to the town's link to gold mining but various other buildings contain displays relating to the social development of the town such as dairying, dentistry, World War involvement, schooling etc. An interesting visit that's reasonably priced.
