Love their meatpie, not an ordinary meatpie.
I stopped here for a coffee on the way to Sydney, and I'll admit I was being a bit of a snobby city person - my expectations were low. How wrong I was! The staff were friendly, the coffee was truly excellent, and it was only $3.85 despite having non-dairy milk. I spent the next hour in the car happily sipping my flat white and marvelling about how delicious it was. I wish I hadn't had lunch earlier, because the pies looked really tasty! Will definitely come back next time I'm going down the Hume Fwy.
Decent pies, variety of flavours including cheese and bacon, curry, steak and kidney, etc. Well made and tasty. Most of the flavours sell out prior to 1.45pm on a Saturday. Plain left. 3 pies and a sausage roll came to $17. Well supported by locals.
Got here around lunch time, 12noon and there were only two pie flavours left, plain and pepper steak. Pepper steak was ok, nothing notable. Good solid flaky pasty and gravy filling with a few steak pieces. Disappointed we couldn't try others. With this bakeries history was hoping for so much more. Fresh cream was used on the baked goods, which was great to see. Unable to try it this time, hopefully will give it a go next time.
Great old school bakery with a wide selection of pies, sausage rolls, cakes and coffee. Staff are very friendly and so are the locals. Thanks for filling my belly with goodness of a pie and dead horse on a cold winters day.
Wonderful staff. Amazing food. Best pies and sausage rolls around. Great value for money.
2.5. Bare pass. The coffee was very very ordinary here. Worst I’ve tasted for eons. For the first time I can remember, I tipped mine out. My partner loved her sausage roll though. Memo: go here for the bakery goods, not the coffee.
Gross place. Ordered a chicken salad roll, young girl walked over to the station where the salads were and proceeded to start trying to wipe something from her hair that was hanging off a long strand. She wiped with her shoulder multiple times and when unsuccessful she grabbed whatever it was with her gloves and then threw it down on the counter where she was making my roll. Further to this there were fruit flies everywhere, she placed a peice of beetroot onto my roll and a fruit fly landed on the beetroot. The girl the swiped it off with her thumb squashing it onto the beetroot and even though I was standing right there watching acted like nothing happened. The shop was full of people and the girl was young so I didn’t call it out, I bought the roll and put it directly in the bin on my way out. makes me wonder what happens behind closed doors when they’re making those pies etc. Gross and I do not recommend. Unfortunately the town is really small so there isn’t much else - if you’re passing through stopping for lunch I’d suggest another town entirely.
Had their beef pepper pie. The pie was tasty and reasonably priced. The lovely junior staffs who served me were very polite, genuine, helpful and professional. Thank you all Although some of the reviews were negative about the coffee, I would definitely recommend their pies :
Great staff. I regularly visit the cafe and Taila is such a wonderful asset. Always with a smile and such a wonderful shop. Especially their pies.
