Gulistan Take-Away

Wandered down here for a quick bite. Ended up ordering the chicken kebab for $16. It comes with a huge piece of bread. Bread was nice. Chicken was succulent and well seasoned. Portion size was too big for a small Asian male (even after a 36-48 hour fast) - could definitely feed 2 people. I ended up throwing half the bread and a quarter-third of the chicken away because it was too much. Well worth a try if you're in the area.

I'm amazed by their pleasant meals. Especially the kebab!!? It's really juicy and full of flavour. The best kebab that I've had for a very long time. I'll keep coming back for sure.

We ordered the mixed kebab set and the bread was generous and soft. However the meat kebabs were tiny compared to other afghan shops in Dandenong (roughly half the size). Price was similar to other afghan kebabs in Melbourne. Service was quick and efficient. I had to ask for a glass of water. Tables and dining area were clean however the toilet was disgusting and there was no soap provided at the wash basin.

A few days ago I went there and ordered a chicken curry. It was microvawd. The bowl was not clean at all.They did not even bother to change the bowl of stew after heating it up in the microwave. They also forgot to bring a fork for the kebab and the glasses were not clean enough. There were charcoal ashes on the chicken. I wish I could share the photo I have taken form the food. To be honest, the bread was good.

Friendly staff, tasty authentic food, and we got almost three feet of fresh made Afghan bread with our lunch meal! So now all we need is some yoghurt sauce and we'll have snacks for today and tomorrow as well. The lamb was especially divine.
